I don't think I can do the subject as much justice as speed racer (who has a website and some links which can't be posted here).

The NRS (Nevada Revised Statutes) lays it out that a county in NV can license brothels within their jurisdiction provided they have a population of less than 400,000.  This pretty much excludes the 2 largest counties in NV, Clark (where Las Vegas is) and Washoe (where Reno is).  So for locals and visitors alike, to find a legal brothel close to Vegas, you gotta get to Nye County and the closest are near Pahrump, namely Sheri's and Chicken Ranch.  As the websites dedicated to legalized prostitution in NV (LPIN), when you go with your chosen lady to her room, she'll have a menu with list prices and it's up to you to pay the rack rate or negotiate those rates down (given that the menu prices are outrageous, you're gonna wanna talk the women's prices down).  If you just plain suck at bargaining, you might pay $1000 or more for what you want (FYI the Cathouse series on HBO were done at the Moonlight Bunny Ranch closer to Reno and had guys paying $2k+ for parties).  If you can deal, you might get that down to around $500, even less (depends on time/day/brothel).  It's pretty much safe sex (covered everything, little to no kissing) plus what some guys view as the dreaded inspection (the lady gets to check out your package under close examination, which has got to be better than getting a handjob via a gloved lady's hand, the disposable medical kind of glove).

If you want an idea on pricing in Vegas (which is higher than most places in the US), a VIP membership search of the review database will indicate potential rates of the various ladies that work this town and the nearby brothels.

If I were you I would forget about Madame Butterfly's (which is basically a front for the adjoining Cherry Patch I/Mabel's legal brothel. Owned by controversial local figure Joe Richards, these establishments (along with the Cherry Patch II in nearby Amargosa Valley) do NOT have a very good reputation within the LPIN community. If you choose to go to a brothel, I'd highly recommend sticking to the Chicken Ranch and/or Sheri's Ranch in Pahrump, or make the longer drive up to Beatty to check out Angel's Ladies. And a little further out along U.S. 95 up near Scotty's Junction is the Shady Lady, one of the two legal Nevada brothels with a "fixed-price" menu system (rather then the traditional "negotiations" system used in all the other houses). They've been named "Small Brothel of the Year" by the Cyber Whoremongers (an informal online group of brothel-goers) for several years running now. Being more distant, these latter two houses tend to have ladies whose average prices often run significantly below those of their counterparts who work in the larger houses in Pahrump (and up north in the Reno / Carson City area).

That all being said, it is most likely your cheapest option to remain in Vegas and patronize a well-reviewed indie escort. Be sure to stay AWAY from the escort agencies in LV unless you want to maximize your odds of being ripped-off. But if seeing an indie isn't feasible (due to your lack of references or some other reason), the brothels are a great (and legal) alternative and are not always as expensive as generally believed.
