One of the older properties on the strip, I'd rate it second or third tier.  It's on the north end of the strip, so not in a "happening" area.

A while back a saw a traveling lady there who was doing in-call in her room.  Nothing spectacular about the room, but it was clean.  No security at the elevators, I was able to go right up to the room.

Definitely not a destination in itself, but if the deal is good, an O.K. place to sleep (and do whatever else you plan to do in the room).

Any positive or negative comments?  Looking at a reasonably good deal on expedia, customer reviews of the Sahara are decent.  Security?

It's at the lower end of class, but still on the strip. About the same as Circus Circus, which is where I stayed last month. Room was clean. While a little smaller than some it was big enough for me. Food there is also cheap but you can do far better elsewhere for not much more.

As far as security, there was an elevator guard at night on weekends. You can just meet downstairs. Check with your prospective providers to see if they have any problems with your choice, but I can't imagine that most all will not have a problem.

I look at it this way. I could spend more money on a nice luxury suite, but then I would be pretty lonely. Because I would most sssuredly be sitting in it all by myself, for at least one or more nights.

Sahara is an OK place - went from the Rat Pack to NASCAR; kinda strange. Security won't give you a prob. Check out Lena Prima in the lounge (Louie Prima's daughter) - sensational and very sexy...

Security at most hotels in Vegas is not an issue as far as ladies visiting you. Just ask the lady you choose. She will tell you if she can come directly to your room or you will need to meet her in the lobby and escort (pardon the pun) her up. In rare instances, they lady may not wish to go to a particular hotel.

As far as a hotel, the Sahara is ok. Not top tier, but acceptable. You want to try and get a room in the newest tower (I can't remember which one that is). One advantage of staying at the Sahara is it has a stop on the Monorail.

I'll have a rental car so distance isn't a problem, also monorail.  Last time I was in LV, 3 years now, I was at the Stratosphere, which was OK for my needs, but some of the expedia reviews weren't shining.

My last visit I stayed at Circus Circus with a rental car. From the north tower that they call the Sky Rise it is only a 30 second walk to a parking garage that NO ONE seems to use or know about. Very convenient. This garage is by the motel units they have. CC is priced much the same a Sahara (maybe even a little cheaper).

While most hotels have free and enclosed parking, it can sometimes be a 20 minute walk from your room to your car.

There seem to be three tiers of price on the strip
1- Sahara, CC, Strato - approx 50 weekday, 100-150 weekend
2- Luxor, Montecarlo - approx 100 weekday, 200 weekend
3- Mandalay, Bellagio - approx 300 weekday, 500 weekend
These are averages for average times. They all go way up during big convenetions (unless you book way in advance, and certainly specials can be found too.
Some places like Riveria is sort of in betwen class 1 and 2
others like Palms are like a 2-1/2.

I'd like to try the Boulder Strip sometime (with a car), but I'm sure some providers would be adverse to it, but not many I bet.

...for the price you are better off with a place like the Luxor, or Monte Carlo; 10 to 20 dollars more a night, but higher quality all around; a nicer look and feel, and better all around appeal; plus they are closer to all the action, the Sahara is much to far and you would be taking many cabs versus being able to practically walk (or take our new monorail) to anywhere you would likely be wanting to go. A better deal in the long run when you think about all that cab fare you would be spending...

Unless you are just looking for a place to la you head you may want to look into these places...

Just a thought...

Why doesn't anyone ever seem to stay ath the Golden Nugget downtown? It's a great place to stay and see providers and the gambling is really quite good down there too. Ok, The Poker room is somewhat lame but that's just one downfall of the Nugget. Security are always friendly to me and it helps to stop and talk to them too and let them get to know you. I've never had problems at the Nugget. I'd rather have more security than lack of. Not to mention, The Nugget is a very nice and clean hotel and not all that expensive.

The only knock I have on downtown is that you have to validate your parking or pay for it (or just valet).  Just a minor inconvience but a nagging one when you need to wander through to the right place in the casino to validate it, then walk back to your car.
