It's a true hole

I will be in town in July. Any suggestions for off strip hotels? What about the "Coast" chain hotel esp the Suncoast?

The Suncoast is a decent place in a pretty nice part of town.  You should not have problems getting providers to show up there.

I can't comment directly on the Sun Coast, I've never been inside.  But I can say that it's way off the strip, although a nice area of town, and directly across from the Angle Park Golf Course.

My favorite Coast hotel is the Orleans.  Before moving to Las Vegas, I used to stay there when visiting.  The rooms were very nice.  (This was 3 to 4 years ago, but they built 2 new towers since then.)  And it's sort of my "hang out" (although I'm not a gambler) because they have a bowling alley, movie theaters, and good restaurants. It's located about 5 or 6 blocks off the strip.

The Sun Coast is very nice, but as was said, way off the strip. The rooms are huge, and the whole place is pretty comfortable. But the Orleans is closer to the strip, if that's what you are looking for.

I like the Orleans.  It is very new, so everything is up to date.  Nice size rooms.

When I want to stay off-strip I often stay at the Hard Rock.  I avoided it for ages precisely because it was off-strip but now I love it.  It's small, plays good music and is full of hot guys and girls to admire round the pool!

Well as soon as your in town, let me know, because I will carry your bags into the Hard Rock or anywhere else.

What's important to you? Location? Amenities? Cost?

The Coast properties are primarily designed for locals. This usually means the hotel rooms offer mimimal quaility. The exceptions would be the Barbary Coast (located in the middle of the Strip and the Orleans, located a few mins off the Strip.

For general Vegas info, you might be better with that type of message board, such as Las Vegas Talk.

Anyone have an opinion or experience with the Alexis Park? It certainly looks nice and the price is very atractive a well.

I've stayed at the Orleans a couple of times and enjoyed it, though I wish they'd ban smoking at the tables. The rooms were very comfortable and reasonably priced, however, and the elevator guards didn't pose a problem.

One interesting bit of trivia: Late one night (about 2AM) I was in the all-night coffee shop (long story). There, about 2 seats down the counter from me, I'd swear was sitting Tempting Tia having a meal. I almost asked for an autograph, but decided I looked to grungy from a bad day and was afraid she might call security on me. :)
