Well, as of now, the ad is still up but the pictures are gone! Instead there is a note that says "stolen pictures deleted by admin." They're still using your name, Ashley, but....I guess the TER community came through!

Apparently someone has stolen my pics. for a Redbook ad.  Does anyone have any advice as to what to do about this when it happens??? Any help at all would be appreciated. WTF????

That sucks! I probably shouldn't be answering this, because I don't know what you can do at this point. I DO know that stealing pics is unethical, if not technically illegal, and it might be illegal too, for all I know. But I also know that it happens all the time. And I know that there are ways to make it impossible for anyone to steal the pictures you put on the web, but it is already too late to do that with these.

But I have two other points. One, that must be a bait and switch agency! They are not only using your pics, they are also using your name! And two, you can at least take some pride that anyone would steal YOUR pictures! That can be considered a generous compliment, even if it is a despicable act!

By the way, I don't blame them for stealing your pictures in particular. Those are great pictures of a beautiful lady!

There is a feature that allows you to flag the ad.  I flagged it as a fake.  Hopefully, if enough of your fans do, it'll get pulled.

It was me----I was just trying to pick up a little extra money and knew they would not call if I put up my picture!

LOL! Boy, you and LA Chinese Guy are really having a rough time in this business! Have you thought about getting together and offering duos? OMG, the mental picture I just got! I think I would pass!

Ashley,

First may I say I am sorry this has happened to you.  I to have flagged the ad as fake, so hopefully that helps get it pulled.  But as TravelinLover stated who can blame them for stealing your pictures.  You are one of the hottest ladies out there and if their desire was to attract business then I am sure your pics would accomplish that.  Of course I am a little partial.  LOL .  I hope this situation gets resolved for you quickly.

I sent Redbook this PM via their "ALERT" link built right into the AD. It did not require me to register to send this.

We could all do the same.

BTW, there is no way to totally avoid this kind of theft. Proper coding can slow down the casual or uneducated thief, but not stop them. Also, adding watermarks will deter some would be thiefs.

At least that way if they steal them they can only go to your site and contact you and no other lady can use your pics with her name.

Check out my portfolio page and you will see the watermark displayed right across them so they can't cut it off.

Make sure you watermark the website address, not just your name.  I am in the process of changing mine.  Some agency in NY decided since my name was watermarked on the pics, they'd just use my name too!  Aargh!

Unfortunately, due to some of the advertising sites not allowing watermarks on your pics, they can still be stolen from there.  Its a never-ending battle.  Redbook has a decent reputation though, so I'd think they'd take the ad down for you.  Good luck!
