If you're curious if the guy is right in his selections for you or just stringing you along, ask the bartender bluntly if he's correct. I've done it, sets boundaries right there as to what I will and won't put up with. I'm lots of fun but I'm no push over!

I've just begun my exploration into whiskey also, have been a fan of sake (cold) for some time. I would recommend trying whiskey or sake flights, it gives you a nice array of tastes to try and you can find your favorites/go tos much easier. I've found it's opened my palate! It can be discouraging navigating something like whiskey but you get to meet incredible connoisseurs when you start asking. They love to guide you in the right direction. I've met plenty incredible people socializing at the pubs, bars or lounges and they always want to help a woman who's genuinely curious. Make sure he knows what he's taking about and not just trying to liquor you up, they're the most annoying!

...I've just begun learning about whiskey...Will I add this to my studies?

This sounds amazing as I enjoy sake but have never done a "tasting."

The weather will be cooling down when the event takes place so what a nice way to warm up (yes, I did a search and found it.)

And...what a great idea for an extended date together...mmmmmm  Anyone care to explore with me?

  PS.."kanpai" or "kampai?"

  Cheers!

Japanese Sake? If you are a true connoisseur of high quality sake, then you need to attend a major Sake tasting event happening for the first time in Vegas. There will be over 300+ different Sakes available for a small ($75) entry fee. It is all you can drink or when they run out, but after trying at least 30+ bottles you will have a smile frozen on your face for the night. There will be several food kiosks from well know restaurants. Previously this event has only been held in Japan, Honolulu and New York. This year they moved the event from New York to Vegas.

Not sure if I am allowed to post the website link, so PM me for the info. KAMPAI! (Cheers in Japanese).

I only drink my sake cold, but like quality wine it should not be too cold or too warm. I enjoy a sake that I can drink by itself with no food, but there are many sakes that tastes better with food. Against the common belief, not all sakes taste good with raw fish (sashimi). Many tastes better with oily foods, spicy foods, sushi, fried foods etc... The best thing about sakes is that, because the way it is distilled you will not get a hangover. Believe me I have indulged it several cups and I have never had a single hangover. I admit, that I could not recall everything (sometimes almost nothing) that happened, but there was no pounding throbbing headache.

I like I enjoy a snifter of Royal Salute on occasion. If you warm it slightly (with a liqueur warmer) the smoothness going down just warms and opens up your chest. It just mellows away your entire stressful day away. This in my opinion that the quality of this nectar should always be consumed straight and never with water, ice or soda. Have it as a chaser, but never mixed together.

Are you going to be here for it? If so we can go together!

Thank you for mentioning it. I'll have to look it up.

There are always so many things going on around town it's easy to miss neat events
