Although this article is a bit tongue and cheek I have wondered how the non-overlap of CES and AVN will affect each other.

I know CES is big so it probably won't notice. But I do know of several guys who "attend CES" but are really going to AVN. I'm not sure how they will swing. If their significant others are even remotely aware of tech coverage they are going to wonder why their hubbies are late going to CES.

I also wonder if those actresses who see the trip as an opportunity to make a little money on the side, won't have the CES high-rollers in town.

Lastly, I wonder if the Hard Rock will be a little freer with what can happen on the convention floor compared to the Sands Convention center.

I'm sure the AEE/AVN awards people will enjoy the lower room rates for staying in Vegas with the occupancy being down compared to the booked to the gills rates that occur around CES time.  Probably easier to get party house rentals away from CES time (Jan 10-13 this year), a popular option for those porn companies that wish to generate new content while in town.

Those that wish to pursue some extra income opportunities will always be around, either advertising here or other places that they will be available or going through some agency or hanging around the public areas like they always do.

As for being freer with the adult nature of the show, no casino property will risk their gaming license with any kind of open nudity or public lasciviousness, even in the expo or award show.  HRH has been nailed to the wall before the NV gaming commissioning for related issues to the nightclubs and pool parties that were run by third parties that didn't hoe the straight and narrow.  With new casino management installed this past year and getting the nightclub/rehab management people to clean up, they aren't going to risking losing their gaming license over some porn stars.  Of course, what happens away from public view...

The room rate differential is quite significant.  No doubt there were lots of disappointed CES attendees....sux to be a geek, eh?  Butt, they at least can thank Haley for some party time.

Viva Las Vegas!!......

.....oh, and Southwest Airlines!  LOL :)
