As for the comparative nature between the casual sex seeker and a "hobbyist" my thoughts:
The type of men who elect to see streetwalkers, backpage or fall for the agency scams are often newbies who don't realize that a resource like TER exists... which you can't really blame them for (often the negative 1st time experiences are what drive newbies to seek out a way to not get ripped off in the future). Sadly you will often have the lower scum types who also realize that many of those outlets don't require them to give much (if any) personal information on themselves so those who might be looking to rip-off or harm a provider will utilize these services because all they have to do is get the girl into their car or call and say "This is Jon in Room 122 at the Holiday Inn" and bam they've got a potential victim. Most mid-tier providers listed on TER would never go to see a client giving so little information about themselves!
The type of clients who utilize TER and upper tier providers know that by giving us their personal information for screening whomever they hire will feel more comfortable in coming over and that it's not risking being outed in their personal lives to harm or rip off someone who knows where you live, work etc. These are also the types when questioned on if they "paid for sex" would probably say no, lol not because they are ashamed but because they pay for an experience and sex is just part of that (wink, wink). Consequently this accountability goes the other way also, meaning that a seasoned hobbyist choosing a provider listed/reviewed on TER means offers him the comfort to know that she will show up being the best possible version of herself... as it is also not worth her TER reputation (and in many cases her livelihood) to show up 2 hrs late, or really drunk or to rip off the client because a bad review revealing that behavior could ruin her business
First, excellent post. Carly mentions not knowing about TER. Thats true. I found TER four years ago. Before that I never had and likely never would have partaken of the purchased pleasures. After stalking the discussion boards and participating in the old chat (really an awesome feature I miss) on TER I took the calculated plunge and have not looked back. It offers me a chance to enjoy women without the commitment, time and energy of a relationship. (and I mean REALLY enjoy!) Lots of good discussion here and reasons why we hobby. The ladies here are really special AND they have a knowledge of men civvie's will never know. Thanks to each of you!!! I am hoping to meet more on my coming trip to Vegas.
I expect most hobbyists are mid 40's plus, involved with white collar jobs and reasonably successful in life. The hobby simplifies relations with women and allows opportunities not otherwise available to most of us.

I've never done any personal survey's but based on contact forms and personal observations Those are my estimated averages (taking into account that as a curvy white 26 year old provider the type of clients I attract may be very different than what a 35 year old Asian spinner might attract).
But my averages are as stated 90% of MY clients are 42 - 52 years old, Married white males, with 2+ kids in high school or college. And while I don't require W2's as my part of my screening form based on the number of doctors, lawyers, CEO and I.T. guys I see who are living in places like LA, NYC and Boston lead me to estimate an average yearly income at or above $100k per year.
I expect most hobbyists are mid 40's plus, involved with white collar jobs and reasonably successful in life. The hobby simplifies relations with women and allows opportunities not otherwise available to most of us.

I believe if you ran your estimates by other providers, I think you will find that are consistantly similar.

Not mentioned in the article is how some of us are just too damn busy to go through the song and dance...
Hell... Friday night out with the guys and talking to a civvie for hours was just plain out fucking annoying considering she was not even half as hot as the last couple of ladies I have met and she was putting me through the song and dance.. Sincerely no doubt she could come close to rocking my world like my last couple of meetings with "professionals".
My last three "civvie dates" were hell... To hell with that... Give me Kendra, Tiffany, Katie, Nikki, Lorena and several other ladies off of TER before I have to go through Civvie Date Hell in LV any time of the week...
And that's why we do what we do...

Its nice to see it appears to be trying to be objective opposed to the semi-hysteria put out in the NBC special on modern day escorts. On the other hand, I have to wonder about their sources and accuracy too.
69% having seen a prostitute in 1948 vs. 14% in 2010..uh? That is a huge drop and I dont think WWII soldiers can explain all of it. The pill Im sure plays a part but still..
The Prostitution Research & Eduacation survey in 2011 gathering info from responders to newspaper ads and Craigs List..ok..When was the last time any TER member responded to a newspaper or Craigs LIst questionaire? Pretty much guarenteed to get the low end economy minded(Im trying to be polite) solicitor I think.
Oh and the best for last..average Internet soliciter makes $120,000 per year...well ok..that explains the girls looking for $1,000+ but seriously, how many TER members do $120,000?.. 50%.?.. Really?.. Now ladies, if this is so, why are any of your rates less than $1,000 per? Uh I think that would that be because the vast majority of clients dont make $120,000 per year? Im right on this arnt I ( I sure hope so because Im going to feel really dumb otherwise)

Love Goddess, or should I say the former. She has a logical basis for her findings as they are largely garnered from her tenor here and participation from hobbyists.
