Why do people post under their alias? Just curious as I see it happening more and more.

For the same reasons providers use stage names - privacy.  

They don't want their criticisms, complaints, obnoxious comments, etc. to be identified with a known handle that might prevent them from passing a future screening.

My alias would never tell another alias to bite me or make fun of LJ.
I guess I am opposite of most people.

lets get real here.. we have a community that can`t handle the truth.. these are guys that don`t have that much self esteem  to start with~~~then you add to the mix  "  a bunch of  girls"..that don`t have that much self  confidence and you get the TER nerd herd..~!!These are people that are scared of their own shadow..  ~~ LMAO

I think you're absolutely correct. Personally, I've never used an alias, and I have no intention of doing so. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but I mean what I say, and say what I mean. If I'm going to write something that will probably be unpopular with people, I'll use my regular handle, and if that costs me a future appointment with someone, so be it.

People should have the balls to stand up to what they want to say! You go boy !!!

alias is ok to use for once and awhile teasing stuff.

I should say I do agree with you. I don't have an issue with people using an alias if it's for some humor. I just do when people do it to bash someone or be rude.

The way I see it the term alias AS USED on this board is any name other than the one on your TER birth certificate.
For the purpose of this board The name on your TER birth certificate is your "real name" and any other name you use is an alias
As for me, I suppose,technically,  you could say I  have numerous aliases, however since the Followme family is so large I allow my cousins and other family menbers to sign on using my TER log in name then go to their names such as
SantaFollowme Claus
FatherFollowme
EasterFollowmeBunny
PopeFollowmeLXIX
DrFollowmeOBGYN
RabbiFollowme
Followmeopolis
to name just a few of my family
So technically these are aliases , however in my case they are all real  members of the followme family.
To the best of my knowledge they do behave themselves.
