I'm a Trekkie and was at his final convention appearance here in Chicago. He was so kind and gracious, stayed for fan photos way past his scheduled time; onstage he graciously answered the same questions he'd been asked for decades (next year is the 50th anniversary of the original Star Trek series) with a smile for everyone.
The mood at this year's conventions will be a bit sadder due to his loss
