"A criminal complaint unsealed in federal court Friday afternoon could represent the first wave of a law enforcement assault on the lucrative escort service industry in Las Vegas."

I'm assuming this is on one of the big agencies that you'll find advertising on the moving billboards, passing out cards, taking out 50 pages in the Yellow pages, etc.

But the "could represent the first wave of a law enforcement assault" line should be paid attention to.

If anybody has been paying attention, the IRS has been cracking down and going after people in Vegas.

The filed indictment is certainly an interesting read on how long and extensive the investigation was.. gets interesting around page 14.

"A criminal indictment unsealed in federal court Friday afternoon is likely the first in a long-anticipated crackdown on escort services and outcall entertainers, seen by police as fronts for prostitution."

Seems like George Knapp is getting some information from LE of more plans in the pipeline.

Interesting reading on one of the services that is involved in the up-charging scams that take place in LV and how much they were bringing in that was reported. Who knows how much cash never made it to the bank to be tracked.

used to be the only game in town before the internet.  Thank God for the internet and more affordable pricing.  The only way to be independent back then was either to take out a yellow page ad which costs a fortune or to work the casinos or to take out some ad in a sleazy local paper.  The yellow page ad would have to at least be a full page ad just to compete with those big agencies and most providers don't have that kind of money.  It sucked, big time.  Also, those agencies are all upsells from what I remember.  Basically, it would work like this...They would send you on a call and book it for $150 or 200 which is the agency fee that you get NO part of, and you would have to work for tips.  But, the phone operator would many times out right lie or mislead the guy into thinking he's going to get whatever he wants for $150-200.  So, you can see where this gets very dangerous for the provider.  I would imagine they are still using the same tactics??  I wonder if the internet has changed their deceitful, greedy behavior.

Still doing it... Read the indictment where undercover LE called up Midnight Ent. in May of 2012 and the phone operator sent a lady to them for $250... and then a price was "negotiated" by that lady for $4,000. Lol..

Reading over that indictment, you can see what kind of cash the owners were raking in. That's just what could be traced from bank transactions. Who knows how much cash never made it to the bank.

Maybe someday people will learn what the scammy agencies are all about.
