Does anyone know of a good Private investigator who has some connections within metro (preferably an ex-cop)? Someone broke into my house and robbed me and instead of filing a police report that will probably never even get investigated, I'd rather pay someone to actually do it. BTW - No need to worry because I bought a 9mm Glock as my new bed companion...a bit cold and not very snuggly, but he makes me feel safer.
I'm so sorry baby!!!!! I hope you get your stuff back, or at least the money to replace it. I know there are things that can never be replaced. I'm hoping you are ok?
What model Glock did you get? Was it the model 17? Ever since the federal government banned civilian ownership (in clear violation of the Second Amendment to the Constitution) of magazines that hold over 10 rounds, there isn't much of a reason to own a model 17. Law enforcement can get a 17 round magazine (thus the name "17"), so they prefer it. But for only holding 10 rounds, the smaller models 26 and 34 will do the same job.
In my opinion there are more effective (for "stopping power") calibers than the 9mm. Glock makes the model 31 in the auto pistol version of the .357 magnum and the model 21 in .45 (both more effective calibers than the 9mm).
But now that you have your 9mm, the most important thing is to practice with it. (Gun control is hitting what you aim at!) All auto pistols require a "break in" period, that is, you have to fire about 200 rounds through it to exercise the spring and slide (to prevent prevent future jams). Maybe we can get together and combine a "date" with a trip to the shooting range. (I'm getting excited just thinking about it!)

My father taught me that the perfect weapon for household protection is a sawed-off pump shotgun. You don't have to be that good of a shot, everything is close range, and no one in their right mind is going to argue with you about whether or not you can hit them.
It's a 26. I appreciate your advice Inspector Morse. I've heard good things about you and I'd love to get together with you for a combined shooting lesson and date.
Nikki, sorry to hear the bad news.. super to hear you're OK and that you took control with the new purchase. I also have a Glock (40 calibre) and love it! Does yours have a long pull instead of a safety? Very, very cool! Anyway, I know a good attorney with connections who might recommend a good PI. Let me know if you don't find what you are looking for. Big hug and bigger bullets, Tara
