I have followed false accusations of rape since following the Durham-in-Wonderland blog regarding the Duke Lacrosse case.  In that instance, a stripper falsely accused three players of rape at a team party.  The players were ultimately declared innocent and the prosecutor disbarred.  

One statistic that appeared in the blog really caught my eye.  Duke University has a total enrollment of about 14,000 with more than ½ of enrollment being women.  Some professors have claimed that up to 30% of women are raped during their academic careers.  For perspective, that means that the instances of sexual assault at Duke are greater than the instances of all violent (rape, murder and assault) crime in the city of Detroit.  This is the absolute number of instances not the instances per unit of population.  Detroit has a population of 717,000 and hardly enjoys a reputation as a crime free zone.

The “hot button” for me on this issue is the Dept. of Education foisting kangaroo courts onto colleges.  Colleges will be obligated to determine the guilt or innocence of a male student accused by a female student of sexually assault even in those instances where (i) no police report was filed, (ii) police report was filed, but prosecutors found insufficient evidence to charge, (iii) police report was filed and found to be demonstrably false and (iv) police report was withdrawn.  Rape is a crime and a police matter.  Colleges should not be determining the guilt or innocence of a criminal matter.

If all men are rapists, castrate them all.  But form opinions based on facts, not propaganda.

Lastly, I do get your “dig” regarding vested interest.  It is not at all unusual for someone who disagrees with an argument, but is unable to attack the substance of an argument; to attack the person making the argument.  Disappointing, but not unusual
