GAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Poor planning and too many distractions (very much appreciated distractions, mind you!) kept me from purchasing solar eclipse glasses.  Seems every place I call is sold out, the big home improvement stores to the big electronics stores.

Does anybody know of any location with glasses still in stock?  Or, can anyone spare a pair? Or ten?

Since I read it on the internet I can't be sure it's true but I did read that local libraries have been handing them out.  Good luck!

Sweet Gals,

I am an older newbie, 64, and have seen many eclipses. Here is a site for easy homemade
solutions:

I used several of these as a kid and they worked. Take a look.

Have fun,

Larry

Buy an emergency blanket (aka fire rescue blanket, space blanket, mylar blanket etc) that's made of Aluminized Mylar and use that instead. You'll have to use 4-6 layers to be comfortable but it works great.

I usually cut mine into strips and fold the strips over themselves until I have the right number of layers, being careful not to wrinkle it. Not as convenient as glasses, sure, but they're really easy to come by.

OK I had to laugh as I've never heard of an actual "space blanket."  :)
Where does one purchase such a blanket?  This is brilliant, thank you!!!

Any sporting goods store will have them, as well as auto parts stores (usually as emergency blankets). The last time I bought them I found them in the camping section of wall mart for $1/ea and bought the whole rack of them, so I'd say look there first, then go to Dicks or an O'Reilly Auto Parts.

And yes, they're called space blankets because the lunar lander was covered in them, granted they were using the gold verity, the material is very similar. You'd be good to buy an extra and keep it in your car, they really do insulate well in cold weather and don't take up much space.

i found a certified maker  min 10 glasses  only 3 days ago on Amazon, showed up next day ..   Soluna  ..
but also their website  is   solunaglasses.com
i wanted to travel to where its 100%  but .never got around to it ...damn.   well vegas is  71%  but i suggest to anyone who can go ..GO ..  to see total eclipse is a major life event.

Space blanket/survival/emergency blankets can be found in most outdoor or sporting goods stores. Walmart has them in the sporting good section. Survival/prep stores will have them too.
Make sure they are Aluminized! The metal is what helps protect you.
Seems sketchy to me and your experimenting to get the right number of layers to be fully protected. You only have one set of eyes and they aren't replaceable. Be careful.

I haven't found luck anywhere aside from online.  (Thanks for sharing those links!)
All of the local libraries are sold out, along with vendors.  I was going to order online until I found out a friend had an extra pair, so I'm set.  I hope y'all get your hands on some!

Everyone knows don't watch without glasses. You can go blind, its all on TV news channels coverage total eclipse of the sun
