This was several years ago, when I was fairly new to the hobby, and had just found the TER site. I was going to vegas on business, and thought I'd look at a few providers, and maybe hook up with one or two. One looked pretty good, had 2 very good reviews, so I called her. Classic upsell, etc. Only later on did I discover that you must look at the reviewers as well. Obviously, both were fake. Lesson learned for me, and TER staff is onto this kind of stuff as well.
A provider I have been following and thinking about seeing has 8-9 reviews and then suddenly upon checking, the profile has been reduced to three reviews.
If they were bad reivews, then why is she even still on TER? This is confusing.
I don't really know the exact answer to your question, but when she tried to join our site, I checked out her reviews I noticed that all of her reviews at the time were by people who had never reviewed anybody else. None of them, ever. So I asked her or the ladie who books her why that was and she said, (copied from the e-mail) "I know and that sucks but that's totally not my fault. Believe me, I've tried to get everyone to review me." I was a bit skeptical, so I upped the requirements to 10 reviews (for several reasons) and figured that I would just kick-back and see what happens. I noticed that the 3 that are still up there are all people who have never reviewed anybody else.

But a suspect review can have nothing to do with the provider. Someone can submit reviews just to get free VIP membership. But they may have picked a random provider. So in that case why would TER punish the provider?
Not saying that this happened with this particular provider, but it is one instance that can explain what happened.
Staff determines (rightfully or otherwise) that one person has submitted a bunch of reviews for the same provider using various handles. They can't penalize the provider unless they think she's involved, but they should ban the person who submitted the reviews and pull all of those reviews.
Unfortunately it looks like your attempt to purchase VIP membership has failed due to your card being declined. Good news is that we have several other payment options that you could try.
