Mount Charleston

I was thinking of taking a favorite girl of mine up to Mt Charleston for a night or two for something different. However, after reading online reviews of the two hotels there (the Resort and the Lodge) they were mixed to say the least. Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels and if so what did you think? I'm now thinking it might be better to take her to Laughlin instead.

Go for the experience.....Mt Charleston's cool....even if it's a dive, you can laugh about it....if it's about the accomodations....fly her to Paris and take her to the Ritz.....she won't give a shit...it's different and she'll love it....by the way, do it for one night....two nights will make you stirr crazy unless all you want to do fuck!  Then keep here there as long as you want......

I'd wait until the snow melts ..... Mt Charlston's fun in the summer when it is 30 degrees cooler than vegas.....Hiking is memorable.

Ps....I've stayed at both places and you don't go there for the hotels.

I would have to recommend Mt. Charleston in this case. The hotels are not exactly first-class but the surroundings are nice enough, the weather is fantastic in summer, and it can be a romantic location, watching the sun set and being surrounded by nature. Laughlin, on the other hand, has a lot of mosquitoes, a lot of noise, and the weather is hotter(!) than Vegas in the summer; plus there is not a whole lot to see that you can't find here. The view of the Colorado River sort of loses its' luster when you are wiping sweat out of your eyes and swatting bugs away every few seconds. Just my two cents.

Trust me on this, it's the best getaway close to Vegas
