I arrived the day of flood and had some difficulty the first night for room availability by next morning the rooms were fine.  Yes, they had to close their restaurant and bar opened up within a couple of days - should be fine now.  the place was sold out that weekend I was there and biz as usual.  convenient location right behind the hard rock.  good sized rooms and easy to move around and receive a visitor or two.  you will be perfectly fine there.

Alexis Park is an authorized hotel for CES in January 2013 so there will be shuttle busses to/from the convention center (Yes, I’m actually going to spend time there). In the past I’ve stayed quite successfully and happily at Tuscany Suites. Alexis looks on the surface to be similar to Tuscany but less expensive than the lowest tier strip hotels like Stratosphere or Circus Circus. Does anyone have any possible negatives to mention?

With no AVN/AEE coincidental this coming year, I’m hoping there will be at least some opportunity for TER fellowship during CES.

I've stayed at both of the places you mentioned. I've always gotten the Crown Loft at Alexis Park and it is nice. Living room on the first level with bath and bar. Has a big screen and couch and chairs. The loft is the bedroom with a king bed. The stair way turns halfway up and there was a 2 person hottub on that landing. It's been a while, but there is not a bar or casino there, but you are across the street from Hard Rock.

Tuscany's rooms have all recently been redone and they are big as I'm sure you are aware. I like the fact that there are good restaurants there and a casino and bars. I like Tuscany better, but Alexis Park is nice and a great place to entertain.

I wouldn't call it luxurious, but it's OK.  On the plus side, it's a bit away from things, yet close enough to get to the action.  The rooms are pretty decent size and there's a jacuzzi tub on the stairway landing.  On the minus side, the property itself looks a little low rent.  In both of my experiences the lady booked the place so I doubt you'd have to worry about someone being willing to meet you there.

I have tickets to the Las Vegas Comic Book Expo later this month (yes I'm kind of a dork) which was just recently moved to the Rivera because the Alexis Park suffered SEVERE flooding on 9/11 that overflowed the pool damaging all of their ballroom space and kitchen. It seems the bar is still open and I don't know if any rooms were damaged but you may want to call and see how soon til the place is back up to full service (lol no pun intended) before making your reservations if having a on site restaurant/room service is important to you!

It will be too cold for swimming, (always seems to rain while I'm in Vegas in Jan.) They should have enough time to get most things back in shape by 2013.

Here's hoping to maybe see you then.
