Last month I woke up one morning and was feel a little rough. Within a few short hours it was horrible. To make long story less, 2 weeks in bed almost, 2 weeks to feel 100%. A full month of binge watching Netflix and feel like crap. Sleep, shower, sleep , TV, sleep. It was horrible. I am good now and all is well but this is very bad flu that is going around.
kissing .. ok whom besides me is dealing with this awful flu. ugh. sick for a couple weeks and now sleeping 14 hours a day. hope everyone is washing their hands and fist bumping and just being careful at least out of the bedroom.
Woke up with a scratchy throat and by evening I shook very hard with fever. Went to the doctor and was given Tami Flu, steroids and Hydrocodone syrup. I’m supposed to feel the flu for 7-10 days but will have the flu for 3 weeks according to the doctor. This flu is a nasty one. Hope you feel better.

That I'm really scared of getting it. I rarely get the actual flu, about once every 10 years or so. But when I DO get it I run a really high fever and it damn near kills me. Several people have told me that this strain has already morphed or mutated enough that the vaccine they have for it doesn't work now. Anyone else hear this?
The vaccine did nothing this year. 0% coverage as per my doctor friend, and that's not unusual. They're just guessing which strain will be popular or most destructive when they make the vaccine, there's no way to mass produce it in response to an outbreak so that's the best they can do.
Occasionally, they nail it and there's no flu that year, so it's worth getting, just don't expect it to actually work.
Also, you know what's always more effective than the vaccine? Washing your damn hands. Most flu isn't spread through the air, it's on surfaces you touch and if you're touching your face/eyes/mouth/ears with live flu virus on your hands, congrats, you get the flu.
