Several years ago a co-worker went to have surgery in her ear.  According to her they gave her a drug that interrupted the path to her memory.  She said that they told her she would be conscious enough during the surgery to talk to the doctors, but wouldn't ever be able to remember it.

That's some freaky shit!!!
