Is there a direct correlation between email professionalism and overall professionalism?

So I've noticed a direct correlation between email professionalism and overall professionalism.  Seems to me the ones who reply to my email or web form inquiry with a coherent, professional reply turn out to be the reliable ones.

I bring this up because I recently got stood up by a well reviewed - very well reviewed - lady in another city.  And not once but twice in two weeks!  Her emails were usually a mess - little usage of caps, sentence fragments, even asked for my phone number when 5 lines down in my included email was my phone number.  I guess I should have seen all this as a sign.

The more typos, the less caps and punctuation... the more it looks like a text message... the more likely there could be problems.

Is it just me?

So I think I need to screen providers by having them write a 3500 word essay for me.  Maybe Chase can help me grade them. :-)

Hm, now that I think about it, the one ripoff attempt (by someone who posts here) sent a decent looking email...

I have been told that my professionalism with regard to quick and coherent email responses put my potential clients at ease. They feel that I am more likely not to "flake" on them since I have taken the time to get to know them a bit beforehand.

I put a great deal of thought into my email responses and feel that my client deserves this in preparation for our time together.  They get to know me a bit better and can clearly see that I can put 2 intelligent sentences together and will be able to have a real conversation with them during our time together.

This is a business not a hobby and I take my appts seriously.  While I do enjoy what I do immensely, I realize that I am providing a service and the client deserves my respect of his time.  That means showing up ON TIME and not tired or disinterested.  This is precisely why I limit myself to 1 client per day.

Just my .02 cents.

Sara

some fine ladies such as Sara and/or Chase who have a true grasp of the English language, get many emails from us men on the other side also, that write poorly, or show no professional manner and etiquette in their emails.

Had to edit mine too. lmao

Makes the lady wonder sometimes I suppose. lol

..what happens when you treat ANY one, but especially people in the service industry, like a human being!

I have always tried, when contacting providers in advance of a trip, to make sure she knows that I understand the nature of the business, and that if SHE is comfortable when we first meet, I will have a heckuva lot better time! So I let her know I am relatively intelligent, that I am from out of town, and am willing to prove it -usually by letting her know EXACTLY my schedule - including my EXACT  confirming # for my flights - and just generally let her know that her time is appreciated BEYOND the business aspect of things!

I try as heck to do this outside this business/hobby too (business for her..hobby for us!)! It is amazing how being polite to a server in a restaurant, a desk clerk, or any other person  involved in serving the public helps out! It even sometimes works with civil servants! ;>)

You're totally right - just treating people like they're human beings sometimes results in unexpected goodwill back your way.  I don't understand how some people can be so rude to waiters or maids when they haven't done anything wrong.  Besides, I don't want any extra bubbles in my food. :-)

Your views are truly the most refreshing, not mention professional, Ive ever read. I sure hope our paths can cross one day. A return trip to DC would be a great start(hint-lol)
Have a super weekend Sara!

You beat me to it , and you took the words right out of my mouth!!!

I am glad to see other ladies who can treat this "hobby" as a business.Yes you can treat it like a business, and still very much enjoy what you do.

Like you I only see one client per day.

Ok so maybe my English isn't perfect.....but hey it is my 5th language.Yet still I am able to put 2 intelligent sentences together and hold a conversation.

When your "together" it isn't so hard to answer emails, answer your phone or call if you need to cancel/running late.
When your "together" you don't forget you had an appointment. You can show up on time ,not tired or distracted.

I do think that how someone communicates with you pre appointment can reflect on what you should expect later.
Although a decent email doesn't mean you won't get ripped off ..... for that you should still check ter ;-)

No HeadHead66 it is't just you , I hear those stories all the time.

The weak excuses and headcases and unreliability - this is too MUCH of a "girlfriend experience."  The only thing missing is the nagging!

So to Sara and Cindy and all the other ladies who treat the hobbyist with respect, who are organized and have it together, who keep their 1 or 2 hour dates even when someone else calls for an overnighter, who give it their best and keep smiling even when they're having a bad day, and who stay sweet even though they have to put up with 10 times more bullshit than I can even think of from sketchy guys, I think I speak for most here when I say we love you and appreciate what you do!

But Cindy, you mean "you're" not "your", right? :-)  (heh heh, you can slap me next time I see you... but I would probably like it) :-) :-)

Well if you want a GFE you can't only get the good side of GFE ;-)

Since I am not insecure I THANK YOU for correcting my spelling ...... for how else will I learn ?
I didn't go to school to learn English ,I taught (did I spell that right ?) myself
So if that is the only thing you found ...... I am very proud of myself!! ;-)

but if you still want me to slap you, I can do that  *wink wink*
