I usually have my dates me downstairs and I do not keep any room keys (if caught with a room key and your not a registered guest they can fine you per room key on hand.) That being said I was just at the Flamingo and MGM this week and didn't see any security at all by the elevators. Thanks for the heads up though. Good information to know.
Might be old news by now, but I noticed that the MGM is starting to ask for room keys to access elevators. Security guards were at the elevators from around 10:30pm with signs posted as well to have key available.
I also noticed that at TI,
maybe it was a weekend at MGM or an event going on. I normally have not seen them....but it has been 1 years since I was in vegas
ti has had elevator security as long as i remember
Any hotel will put up security during high volume times. I have seen it at hotels that you would never expect. I've been stopped at Rio, TI, Luxor, Mirage, Linq, Mandalay Bay, and many others that don't normally have security. It is always best to scope it out before your date arrives if you can, especially if it is after 10pm.
A note for the ladies; this can even happen at the parking garage during high volume times. I have been tuned away at the Flamingo and Linq garages because I didn't have a room key. It is always best to carry a key with you when you can

The hotel itself can not "fine" you. The worst that can happen is they call Metro and trespass you for all their properties, which becomes a problem. Their is no "fine" per say.
Carrying old key cards is a risk, the property could change them at anytime, and then your like oh this my room key but it doesn't work.
If the guy will not meet you downstairs' in my opinion, you should just move on.
My .02 cents.
Here is the other link that explains it as well.
how they handle something like that depends on the hotel.
Some hotels you get caught with one of their old keys you get 86'd off the property happen to a provider friend of mine. She had all the room keys but she couldn't keep up on when they change the design on the keys.Hotel security 86'd her out of the hotel very nice strip hotel.
Another time a provider friend used the wrong key and security asked a bunch of questions she said she was a key collector and must have grabbed the wrong key by mistake.
They must have bought that story because she was not 86'd.
I guess it depends on which hotel it is.But if you use a room key check first with the guy to make sure you know what the room key looks like.
i have a key collection and i get the client to send me a photo of theirs to make sure i have the right one...if i do not have that one, then of course we will have to meet somewhere and they give me one for my collection
That is how I do it too.
My understanding by a friend who does bounty hunting is that if your caught by LE each key can be a felony. I'll ask him for the correct verbiage so I'm clear. It was enough for me not to want to keep any hotel keys in me and meet my dates in the lobby if they have security.
This is the link to the felony. It is basically documents used to produce/establish the identity of another.
