Any thoughts on the MGM...
Have stayed at Bellagio and find it a little to stuffy and overpriced
Mirage is great.. love the atmosphere, but looking for a change
But it's very nice with the exception of the Cosmo it my favorite place.
My recent trip I used the monorail and caught it thru the MGM. I went thru the NYNY and crossed the street to MGM and knew the rail was in the back near the parking garage well about an hour later I found it ! Even the girl at the ticket booth said it is the biggest complaint she gets. The casino is insanely large so if you get bored at smaller places like Luxor then this will keep you entertained. I stayed there in 2000 and it has grown SO much ! No idea about the rooms just got totally lost in the casino.
the entrance of the MGM to your room is very far so make sure you don't forget anything in your car. It feels like a mile away; especially after a couple of drinks.
How very true!
Presumption it is bigger that Mirage?
Is the pool complex a far trek?
Yes it is larger than the Mirage, and I think is also has better restaurants and amenities.
It depends on where your room is located from the pool.
Yes its BIG, but then so are most major strip hotels.
It was the largest hotel in the world up to a few years back, and even now is still in the top 10.
But once you find your way around the place, its fairly easy to navigate.
Prices are pretty good and there are loads of places to eat, and it has a nice casual feel to it.
I will be there later today funnily enough buying a show ticket. Hope I dont get lost in the Rain Forrest
If you are ok walking and dont mind being down that south part of the strip, its just fine
As others have stated if you park in the garage it is a very far walk to the hotel elevators.
However if you use valet a very short walk across the lobby and the elevators are there of course that depends on what room and tower that you book.
The rooms are nice but the hotel is very spread out the restaurants is quite a walk as well especially if coming from the parking garage.
Have you given any thought to Mandalay Bay THEHotel? It is nice hotel and convenient the casino is a very short walk and all of the rooms are suites.
Good luck to you.
I've already booked my room at the MGM and being that it's my first time there,I'm getting the "willie's" about this place.."too big", "too far"....yikes! I'm canceling it now and going back to safer ground, The Bellagio....thanks to you for all the info.
Grrrr%@!!!!!!!

Just thinking about the various places I've stayed in town, so these are some of my preferred places:
Aria (although this also might seem "stuffy and overpriced"--still, it's nicer and newer than Bellagio, which is already starting to feel old, having been around for 15 years)
Wynn/Encore
Venetian
Cosmo (certainly not "stuffy", though potentially overpriced--their Lanai and wraparound terrace suites are awesome, especially if you can wangle a deal out of them)
If you don't mind non-casino properties, Vdara or Mandarin are nice.
If you're looking to save a few bucks, Palms is not bad. It was much better a couple of years ago, before the original ownership was forced out. Lately they've become very competitive on pricing, so if you want a suite or something, you can often do better than their posted rate. Just call reservations and keep asking--you'll usually get something pretty good.
I agree with most about MGM: Just too friggin' big for its own good.
I like it there. You can usually get upstairs with no room key and they have great restaurants
Stayed there on my last trip. No security problems for ladies to get to my room. New rooms are nice. WIFI sucks big time with very low signal in rooms at far end of the halls. Will go back to TheHotel on next trip.

It's "right-sized". "No-Security" elevators are conveniently located. The table action is minutes from your room. Food Court and a few shops are convenient....and yea, the store next to the elevators carries condoms!! Their rooms aren't extravagant, but clean. The room rates are 20% or more lower than surrounding resorts. And they've got some variety with their Spa Suites, Monaco Suites and Diamond Suites. Easy access to City Centre as well as the Bellagio via a tram. CVS Drug store next door....well, if the selection in the store next to the elevators isn't too your liking! Jest Sayin'... Yea, perhaps the in-house restaurants aren't the greatest...but I've had decent steaks at Brand without breaking the bank.
Not a "mega-resort"....but not the "Mega-Prices" and "Mega-Walk" either!
Too many choices now
Sorry I asked
Does the tram go from Monte Carlo directly to Bellagio
