I'll be in Vegas for Valentine'd Day with a very special lady and am looking for a romantic dinner location.

We had reservations, but have since been told that the place is now booked for a private party and they cancelled us.

Any suggestions?

Make sure to request a booth as they have large circular ones with curtains around them which lends to romance and a more quiet and romantic setting.

Fleur de Lys, that is the place that offers a $5000.00 Hamburger it is said.  Burger and a bottle of wine, seems a tad over priced methinks!

Rosemary's is great BUT not romantic at all and I fear would not live up to what he was seeking for Valentines Day.

I blogged about a memorable evening at Fleur de Lys in Mandalay Bay...they had a few private dining tables surrounded by luxurious draperies, very cabana-style.  However, Fleur de Lys is now known simply as Fleur and has a more casual tapas menu.  That said, I'm not sure if the cabana-style dining areas are still there.  If they are, I imagine it would be very romantic to share small bites in the privacy of a secluded dining area.

Another place I really enjoy is Rick Moonen's RM Seafood also at Mandalay.  Make sure to reserve the upstairs level as the lower level is more casual.  Upstairs, there are booths that are very spacious and have their own dimmers so you can control your own lighting.  Sexy!  The service was amazing as well, highly recommended!  

Best of luck getting another reservation on Valentine's Day!  If all else fails, there's always room service by candlelight.  You can make your own romantic location in the room.

Without knowing exactly what you had in mind...there are a few thoughts that I can share....  


Romance Traditional:  

Hugo's Cellar -
Four Queens : I've recommended this place before, for it's classic, seductive, intimate nature.  It is old Vegas, sure, but as elegant and sophisticated as they come.  You will need to walk through a casino, on Fremont street, and into a completely different world for your dinner.  Classic red velvet, brick walls, and a fireplace greet you, your lady is given a rose, and the waiters and servers have been there since the place opened decades ago.

Piero's Italian -
This place is another classic, rich with an interesting history.  It's well reviewed and continues to stack up nationally acclaimed awards for service, style, and cuisine.  Everyone who walks in here is treated like family and it's history includes visitors from the Rat Pack to former presidents.  A part of "Casino" was even filmed in here.

Casa de Amore -
Another Italian (can't get away from it in Vegas) that just encapsulates everything romance should be.  More velvet, candlelight, its own limo, servers in tuxes, and a pianist who frequents nightly until the wee hours of the morning.  This is slightly off the strip and again, once you step inside you are like family.  A really special Las Vegas tradition that you must visit at one point.  



Romance Modern -

The previous posters to this thread have all mentioned exceptional places for more modern romantic environments, and all of the above  are exceptional choices I will agree!  A couple off the wall places as alternatives....



Romance Eclectic :

Envy Steakhouse -
Not well known as it's in a convention center hotel, The Renaissance. But this steakhouse is one of my favorites and it has won a few awards. Excellent option for lower key, more contemporary romance.

Tillerman -
This is slightly off the strip but wow, there is a huge tree inside that is adorned with white sparkling lights.  A complete lazy susan salad tray comes with the meal, and the atmosphere creates the feeling of an outdoor garden party dinner.  

Marrakesh -
A Moroccan venue, once inside you the decor is set up just like a traditional Bedouin tent, its exotic and cozy, sitting close on a low couch and eating with your hands.  You are served a full 7 course menu, complete with music and entertainment.  (this would be traditional belly dancers, make sure your lady wouldn't mind sharing her evening in this sort of environment )

I had an excellent dinner there with several other board members. It regularly wins awards among locals and visitors who are willing to go off-strip.

I sadly cannot concur on Haley's Envy recommendation: after I and members of my party were served spoiled wine, cold food and steak not done to request, I won't be back. (Others have done well there... but Las Vegas has far too many good food options to accept poor quality experiences.)

Fleir de Lys is now "Fleur."  Have not been, but website claims to concentrate on small, shareable plates.

I tend to prefer places a bit off of the beaten path a bit with great food, as opposed to looking out over the fake Eiffel Tower to so-so food (and admittedly, not much of a view in the strip mall Rosemary's inhabits). It seemed nice, quiet and dotted with couples when I went with friends, though.

The disaster I had as a romantic dinner some years ago was Bouchon. Their problem? High ceilings and tiled floors. Can't exactly whisper tête-a-tête when the dining room pretty much amplifies ambient sound (and chatting with the waitstaff, it turns out that was a deliberate design choice by Thomas Keller; he is really going for French bistro). And out on the balcony away from the noise? A disaster in August.

Bouchon is one of my favorite places in Vegas... but I'd never try that again.

Like Bob, I like the more out of the way smaller places. Take this for what it's worth coming from a caveman, I'd go to Todd's Unique(toddsunique.com). On the Strip, I'd go with Lynette's recommendation of RM Seafood or Guy Savoy at Caesars. Robuchon is great, but be aware that the big tasting menu takes forever to get through. You can order a la carte, but if you go, do the tasting.

Wow!  Another great, out of the way local restaurant...I'm going to have to check this out, I love tips on new places like this.  It reminds me of "Garfields" in the lakes area, mostly for the the casual, cool sophistication and great menu Todds appears to have.  

Safe to say you been to Marche Bacchus? I love going to browse the wines before eating.
