Some religious whackos have nothing better to do than try and tell others how to live their lives. May they rot in whatever hell they believe in. That e-mail's author was probably some bored housewife (who by definition is also a "whore") who's been brainwashed by one of the many cults more generally known as mainstream organized religion.
In a capitalist economic system like ours, anyone who is not self-employed or unemployed is a prostitute (in that they trade their physical and/or mental skills in exchange for money) and society in general obviously does not brand all of them as "whores". Only when it comes to the area of human sexuality does America's up-tight, Puritan-derived, so-called "moral" standards (and self-annointed guardians thereof) condemn paid consentual activities between adults. What a crock!
I have found that the vast majority of perole involved in the sexual services and entertainment trades (at least on the higher ends of the scale) to be much more "moral" and "ethical" than those in many other "legitimate" and legal endevours. And especially so in comparison to those folks who try to impose their narrow, so-called "faith-based" belief systems on others.

I am glad you used the term some. While other might have said all. Which would make that comment no better than the e mailers. For myself I believe your religous belifs should be kept to yourself and what ever belief ie Higher Power you have. There are some withing the Christian community that believe they should wear their religon like a bage of honor. They also believe that is is their duty in life to recruit others into their religon. I even find it ironic that those of the "born again" have a belief that believing in Christ is not good enough. If you are not part of their church you are still going to hell. One must ask where this believe comes from. Of course it comes from the preachers of that church. Who by in term demand their members donate 15-20 percent of their gross not net earnings to the church. So as like eveything else it life. Its all about money... That is usually the bottom line in everything follow the money trail and you have your answer.
You make an excellent point about my use of "some" rather than "all". That distinction is often overlooked in all aspects of debate (especially political) nowdays. The "either yer fer us or yer again us!" mentality is every bit as destructive as other forms of intolerance.
Like you, I believe that religious/spiritual beliefs are deeply personal and are best kept on that level. However, I tolerate (but do not approve) of those who feel otherwise, unless they try to directly impose such beliefs on others.
Your point about many so-called religious people and institutions constantly begging for money (or trying to guilt-trip their believers into giving) is also right on the mark. Hope you've had a chance to see the Showtime series "Penn & Teller: Bullshit!", which devoted an episode to various religious scams.
It seems to me that the overwhelming majority of the world's problems are caused by three factors: money, ego, and public expression of religious beliefs.
Although I haven't received that particular message, I have gotten similar emails from religious fanatics and I've found that it's best not to engage them into a debate. Their blind faith based arguments are completely illogical and they seem to get quite angry when you shake the foundation of their belief system. It would be best to simply ignore them, but I always feel compelled to respond politely with a list of suggested reading (i.e. Eckhart Tolle "The Power of Now" and Zecharia Sitchin “Genesis Revisited”, “The 12th Planet” and “The Stairway to Heaven”.
If they continue their harassment, respond with a cease and desist letter. The emailer apparently also believes he/she delivered some hot secret information to the authorities. As if the authorities have never heard of TER, TBD, Eros, or any of the other locations online where January's email address and website URL are readily available.

I received a very disturbing voicemail a couple weeks ago. Then an extremely explicit message was left on my voicemail that evening. I unknowingly erased the messages, which are lost forever. They were many times more vulgar and sickening than the email you received. I also got a reply on a message board that is so, so similar to what you received. Only one email has been in my mail, and it was very pleasant compared to the one you got. I have noticed an influx of goody two shoes types lately. I saw here on TER a link to a website that had the word 'Whore' splashed across the entry page in bright red letters with the message "This site has been hacked by' blah, blah, blah. Some idiot believes they are doing the work of the Lord by screwing up websites? Yeah, right. My guess is whoever is doing this stuff is using God to try and cover up thier own guilt about being drawn into adult web sites. It's just an excuse for them to view pornographic sites. I can see it now. The guys wife asks 'Oh, my! Honey, who has been visiting all these bad sites?" And he responds "I have. Just sharing the values of being a goody two shoes."

About the religious references, I would remind the author of the email that, Christ made a point of protecting a known prostitute, it was a prostitute that during the travel to the cross tried to help and comfort Christ while everyone else watched and ironically, the Prostitute was one of the very first people that the Risen Christ appeared to after the Crucifixion.
