I'm looking for a different kind of restaurant off the strip.  Been to all the fancy Hotel eateries.  Anyone have a 411 on Hugo's Cellar, or other similar that you would recommend.

Have personaly not been to Hugo's Cellar in the Four Queens but have been told by many people who rarely go downtown that it is excellent.

I have not eaten there, but have heard good things about the place. You might get better feedback asking at a general purpose Las Vegas Board, like www.lasvegastalk.com.

I think they're excellent... they have an old-school feel and the food was good!!

Not sure what you seek in "different", but Hugo's Cellar is a five-star eatery in an old Vegas setting.  Horseshoe has a solid steakhouse on the 19th floor....if you go before 8 PM you can grab a drink at the bar and watch the sunset from the rooftop pool on floor up.

Its been a while but when I ate at Hugo's it was great . Good place to impress a lady .

Hugos used to be great, but IMHO in the last few years they went downhill.  The Pullman grill in Main Street Station is dollar for dollar the best steakhouse once again IMHO.

I've heard nothing but great things about Hugo's.

I didn't say they were bad...just not really as good as they used to be.  Maybe it's just me.  Truthfully I still like the Pullman for steak and such, plus I really think the room is nicer.  Another bonus is that they are rarely so busy that you can't get a last minute reservation.  Hugo's kind of feels like a dungeon.  There are some other places which are really great just a little more expensive such as The Palm (in the forum shops), Smith and Wollensky, Roy's (on Flamingo), Mortons, Ruths Chris (both kind of commercial).

The Bootlegger south of the strip is good. Morton's is excellent also.
