While the element he describes does in fact exist, it is hardly a blanket description of us all. But it seems the media is hell bent lately on making the general public believe as such. Recently I caught another MSNBC special on Human Trafficking which also pushed the message that we are all trapped, enslaved and abused. They showed screenshots and mentioned by name some of the popular escort malls or message boards and reported that the ads that listed GFE meant sex without condoms*.  So much for accuracy (as if the media ever is). :(

I agree, human trafficking is a horrible thing and needs to be stopped. However, the media/police/politicians, in their attempt to publicize the problem, are surely making life more difficult on those of us who are responsible, independent escorts running their own businesses, aka "happy prostitutes", by skewing the perceptions of potential clientele.  Hmmm... maybe that's the real intention all along - or at least a little side perk for them?

*for you newbies, GFE does NOT, I repeat, NOT NOT NOT mean sex w/o a condom!

point of view and the girls/women he has come in contact with.

I dont believe that every provider has a abusive pimp beating her daily.

What about the girls that work in the brothels ? There job title is a Prostitute so does that mean that they are victims and that they arn't happy ?

This guy speaks from one side of the spectrum and sure cant speak for all.

I have met woman that are going to college to become Doctors and Lawyers ,they have no boyfriends or pimps in their life .They own businesses and are safe and selective about what they do and how they conduct their business.

Not every provider wants to sit in a brothel for two weeks at a time and give half of their money to the Pimp(the owner of the brothel) to work there. How would you feel man or woman if you had to give half of all of your income to your boss to continue working at your job? Not very welcoming and not something you would want to continue to do.
Thats why many girls choose to be a companion on what they call the street level ie:the internet.

Im sure his book shares some sad storys and thats good for him but he has never been in our shoes and never will . There are many providers that meet wonderful men and build great friendships and not to mention they love their job and are treated very well.

No one in this hobby is happy.Or we all have pimpe or boyfriends.Yawn!

but he also deals with the trafficking and under age  that dont know any better and foreign girls that dont even know english.

I am all for getting those kids off the streets and the men and women that introduce them to that lifestyle. Its not a place for kids.

I would like to know where the proceeds are going? Are they going to help the girls/women of this crime? Or in his pocket? Hmmmmm

It must be comforting for her to know that guys like this are in charge, unaware of her existence, focusing 100% of their efforts chasing after the big fish and schools of minnows.

Pretty Woman was a smashing success bc Julia Roberts started off as a stereotypical street walking hooker.....and she was "rescued" from her lifestyle choice.

I don't think it would have been the iconic movie it is had Julia Roberts played an established provider showing up for her appointment in her own Mercedes......dressed in a business suit...and taking Richard Gere to her own house in a quiet suburb....there's no believable story in that FACT......

People who CHOOSE to not know any better, remain in their comfortable self inflicted IGNORANCE.....really think all sex workers fit into the stereotype perpetrated in this mans book.

....we know human trafficking happens, we know there are insane pimps/so's/agency owners....and so does the rest of our society.....no one wants to believe any woman in her right mind could possibly ENJOY being a provider....it's easier to think we are all pimped...and/or all chemically dependent....10 kids...12 different baby daddies...all of whom are incarerated...all our kids are in foster care...and we are all MISERABLE!

He's writing a book.  Channel 8 does a "story" about him writing a book.  Sounds like advertising to me.

I hope he didn't write it on department (i.e., taxpayer) time.

Good luck to him (and the rest of the department) catching and putting away the pimps.  Pimps are some of the lowest form of life on the planet.
