Maybe this should be directed to the moderator, but maybe my fellow hoobyists can help me out. This sight, and others like it, can be an invaluable tool to hobbyists and providers alike. But I've noticed some oddities that have made me scratch my head. I use TER mainly for Vegas, but I have done some research in other locations for a change of scenery, and I've noticed after frequent visits to the reviews, some reviews on specific providers that were posted one week are gone the following week. I've read these review and although they may not be flattering to the providers, they didn't seem to break any of the TER commandments on posting reviews. Reviewers can be posting vital information that can help the hobbyist and provider alike, whether it is a stellar review, or a review warning hobbyists of probable trouble. If a review gets the moderator's seal of approval, and it's followed all the TER commandments.....shouldn't it remain posted for all to see?

Just a general clarification first. The Discussion Board Moderators, such as yours truly, have nothing to do with the other parts of TER, with the possible exception of GND. I am unsure of GND's relationship to TER other than being in charge of all the Moderators and do more work than all of us combined :) So Moderator's have nothing to do with reviews. We are all in the hobby and fellow posters who volunteered to oversee one or more boards.

The two posts, this one and the one below, are about missing reviews. As far as I know there are only a few ways to have a review removed. One is for the provider to complain about the inaccuracy of a review and ask TER to yank it. It is requested all the time and is seldom granted from what I understand. The review has to be obviously wrong. Second is for the reviewer to be removed from TER for falsifying reviews or publish personal information. If you falsify a review and are caught then all of your reviews are removed. I think there is a third way but I am unsure. I believe that a reviewer can ask to have his review removed. I am unsure if this will work and can find nothing specifically in the rules about it. Most likely it is taken on a case by case basis. I doubt that Staff removes reviews unless you have a really good reason.

This is mostly from a lot of time reading the boards. I am curious to read other responses.

I understand the reasons posted in your response, but out of curiosity.....if a provider does gripe about a certain review being inaccurate, how is it justified to pull the review? Is the reviewer interrogated?

I suggest you read the TER Suggestions and Policy Discussion Board. If you go through the older messages Staff lays out how and why reviews can be removed. Mostly a review has to be proven to be grossly in error or obviously false.

I know of one example where the guy gave a review about coming to the ladies incall location and his description didn't fit the true location, just the general outside of the building. It is VERY difficult to get a review pulled.

I think that reviews can also be removed if the provider leaves the business and/or removes her web site (?).

So both TinyTim214 and DTrump begin simular threads with their simular observations.  Odd (I'm sure just by coincidence) the two threads in question just happen to follow one another.  Odd that the second thread was started when one would normally post simular comments under the prior existing thread.  Odd that out of tens of thousands of reviews in the database, these "two" gentlemen just happened to notice some of the less than flattering reviews that they specifically (just by coincidence) remembered suddenly disappeared.  Any guesses as to who "two" of the people are who may have written these reviews that these "two" gentlemen noticed missing?  It doesn't take Oliver Stone to figure this one out.

Without having anything to contribute to why reviews might be removed, and just visiting from San Francisco, I must comment on RazorRamon's post.  In fact, it would be like Oliver Stone to jump to the conclusion RR jumps to -- considering only the convenient facts, and omitting some critical ones that may apply.

I haven't met (my loss) any of the posters referenced, but I do know that many posters are "moderated" -- their posts do not necessarily appear on the board as soon as they submit them.  Thus, the two threads could have begun independently, and without knowledge of each other, and hence innocently.  The time stamps don't help, since in the days when I was moderated, it sometimes took almost 24 hours for a post of mine to appear.

Thus, RR's implication is possible, but certainly not certain.

Peace,

Aby

Well they say great minds think alike, so it IS a coincidence that DTrump and I noticed the same thing. DTrump & I are not the only people that have noticed vanishing reviews. If you do you research on sites like this, certain things stand out. Other sites' moderators used to play favorites to certain providers and remove or not even post certain reviews, eventhough they were honest and followed all the rules, and I know TER would never sink that low. But, if you thoroughly read reviews, certain bits of data can provide a wealth of information. Information that can save a hobbyist from being ripped off, stood up, or worse. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go watch JFK.........not!!!!

Timing certainly is everything, and coincidence, I really doubt if it applys here. More likely something planned out. Two postings just to put a little pressure on, and then some new reviews pop up. I'm going to put my money on the truth, and say that the review staff will see through this charade.

Don't make claims of favoritism being a reason for a review to disappear. Again a little more pressure. There are only a few reasons to delete reviews, the most obvious being, it is strictly a fabrication. A lie that is put forth for no other reason than to hurt a providers reputation. When a rating is so out of line with past history, and you have other hobbysists that decry such a rating. The review should be removed. Unfortunately the same vindictive attitude that led to it's posting can come forward again later in another guise. When it does, it needs to be dealt with in the same way. Let them know that there are games being played, and allow the review staff to decide. They seem to know the score.

It's too bad that it's virtually impossible to catch some who play the opposite game. I'm sure made up positive reviews are mixed heavily in some providers profiles. Suddenly perfect scores dominate the page. I guess we should remeber the old adage. If it looks too good to be true, it probably isn't.

I think the system is basically fair, they're looking for "consistancy" in the reviews. If fifteen guys rate a provider around an eight or nine in looks and performance, for example, and one single guy rates her a one or a two, this raises a red flag;was she REALLY that bad? Or does the problem rest in the client? Is he overly demanding, have a resentment against women, just angry in general and want to give someone trouble? There may be more than meets the eye.
