they kept calling the women that offered sex, didn't deliver and took the guys money as "prostitutes"...huh?
I was under the impression that that prostitution was the exchange of sexual favors for money... wouldn't the "trick rollers" be cons and not prostitutes?
If the women in question had picked up the men they stole from claiming they just thought he was cute...would they be deemed a roving band of thieving sluts?
If I trcked someone into meeting me in a vacant lot because I claimed to have a car for sale, then beat and robbed them...would I be designated a "Car Salesman"? even if I had no intention of selling a car?
This isn't part of the sub-culture of prostitution it is part of the sub-culture of cons and thieves. The only connection it has to actual prostitution is that is the lie the thieves use to get the mark...
If anything it is more the criminalisation of prostitution that assists in this type of crime. By keeping prostitution a criminal offense you allow for those with ill intent to play into the clandestine nature of a victimless, but still, illegal activity. It also allows for the thieves to perpetuate their misdeeds by the fact that victims of the "trick rolls" will not report the crime because of fear of what might happen if he admits he was attempting to solicit a prostitute...this isn't part of the world of world of prostitution...it is part of the world of thieves, cons, muggers...it is just prostitution they use as their hook (pardon the pun) to reel in the mark.
Confusing how the article makes lying about one activity to commit a crime, the same thing as being a part of the activity lied about...guess you have to do what you have to do to disparage and keep the activity lied about in a negative light....confusing....
The offense is "solicitation of prositution", not prostitution per se. To commit the offense, all that's needed is a verbal act; i.e., an offer of sexual favors for exchange of money. Sex actually need not take place.
I could have the missus popped for solicitation? She asked for money just this weekend, under the pretense that she was buying groceries or some such lie. She promises me sex all the time. I think I've got a case...
First off, I've got to back webbie up on this 110%. for a multitude of reasons. The fact that the article is labeling these con artist thieves as prostitutes is feeding fodder to the fire for the stigma that surrounds this hobby already. Like we need anymore than we already deal with. The fact that the article labeled these thieves as prostitutes is an insult and only makes things more difficult for legit ladies. Between the men believing we're bad until proven good and the police as well, it puts every legit lady in an unfair catch 22. lol. no pun intended. Yes, these ladies chose to mask their true intentions under the guise of prostitution. Would you come right out and tell someone you were planning on robbing them before they got into your car? how else would these low life con artists succeed? which in the end screws it up for the legit ladies out there who have no bad intentions.
And because of these con artist thieves, not only are legit ladies questioned by the guys, we also get messed with and harrased by police each time we get pulled over, and our purses searched without our consent, and just because one of us happens to have condoms, lube and an envelope with cash in it and an x-boyfriends credit card that he gave his permission for that lady to use she gets hand cuffed, car impounded, has to text clients apologies for not being able to make it because she's in the back of a police car, gets to spend 48 hours in county jail, 5k in attorney's fees, go to court, and have the judge de-badge the cop and dismiss the case (thank god) yet we have to go through all of this, when she did nothing wrong in the first place just because she happens to be in this business, the same facade these thieves are using to rob people?
this maybe why quite a few ladies don't drive and have to rely on cabs which are inconsistent especially when picking up in residential areas in las vegas that are safe to live in but faraway from the strip, and the maybe the reason we're always late. Maybe if police didn't harras every lady unnecessarily we would feel comfortable driving and actually make it on time to visits.
But that's just my 2 cents and rant and rave for the day.
