Though many civvies like to pretend we don't exist, or perhaps they wish we didn't...for the most part Hollywood seems to loves us and is quite fascinated by us.
Providers are portrayed in mainstream high production films, quite a lot of them going back many years in fact!...whether good, bad, or ugly we are represented!
A Close Hobbyist Friend of mine and I thought of quite a few films that are either about the Provider world or include the provider world within the film...here's the list we have compiled so far:
True Romance Pretty Woman Klute Madame Butterfly Deuce Bigelow Male Gigolo American Gigolo Irma La Douce Searching For Mr. Goodbar Finding Amanda Trading Places My Own Private Idaho Gone with The Wind Pretty Baby Taxi Driver The Wedding Date Leaving Las Vegas Monster The Girl Next Door Unforgiven Risky Business Mighty Aphrodite Belle Du Jour Sharky's Machine Mayflower Madam Midnight Cowboy Night Shift Dr. Detroit LA Confidential Sadie Thompson Shanghai Express Rain Anna Christie The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas The Owl and the Pussycat McCabe and Mrs. Miller
since I'm probably the biggest ( not literally--lol ), Vegas filmbuff/hobbyist on the board, here are a few titles you omitted : Nights Of Cabiria, Whore, Crimes of Passion, Butterfield 8, Never on Sunday & Elmer Gantry.
the best movies of all time. I saw this movie when I was in Spain back in the late-80's. I haven't seen it in years and the impressions such as the man with the bag in the caves is haunting. Great Choice.
Crimes of passion with Kathleen Turner at her most dangerous - splendid.
though, I really enjoyed it. Matthew Broderick plays a gambling addict who is sent to LV by his family to find his wayward niece who is thought to be a stripper....well, turns out she's a provider....there are some very real moments in the film and some very over the top ridiculous views at the biz....
I watched it with a hobbyist last year and we both could relate to a lot of the topics/ideas in it...I think it's worth seeing...here's a link to the review..
Butterfield 8 (one of my favorite Liz Taylor movies), but Mr Priapus beat me to it.
I will add the movie "The Babysitters", and not Hollywood, but available in the US on DVD, an Australian show called "Satisfaction" and about a brothel.
