(I know, probably all seem like sort of obvious "humdrum" choices.  What can I say, I guess I'm bit of a fuddy-duddy…)

Maybe not quite "classic" (what is considered to be classic, anyway?  Stuff from the 40s or earlier?):  Practically anything that Kurosawa has ever done--especially the tremendously under-appreciated "Ikiru".

What's up, anyways?  Is someone putting together a classic film festival in town?  If so, sign me up, and find me a date!

I know its more recent but for me I love watching Return of the Jedi & Dirty Dancing.

If classic means producing memorable lasting impact that stands the test of time via quoted dialogue, creating a genre or a catalyst for ushering in a new era:

Casablanca, Double Indemnity, Baby Face

The last (Baby Face) a pre-code 1933  was the last straw for the censors who gave us the Hollywood Code and the Legion of Decency.  Recently I had the pleasure of viewing the original uncensored version during an overnight with an atf.  The philosopher’s advice to a young prostitute (Barbara Stanwyck) that drove the censors crazy especially because in the film she neither was punished nor came to a bad end.  (OMG, no hell-fire and damnation)
