I don't think this is a trend but moreso what a lady may choose to ask a gent to make her comfortable.
I don't ask for that info but again every lady is different.
If what the provider is asking you to provide is out of your comfort level just politely decline and move on.

There are plenty of ways to verify
unless you're a complete newbie .. but there are still other ways which dont require a license.
What does a license prove anyway? Ok you are screening against serial killers and sex offenders.. but doesnt help screen out LE.. they all have drivers licenses
...to private local residents, I requested a photo of mail with name and mailing address and to please not include personal information. I only needed to verify that they were, in fact, who they said they were. Never a DL. That is excessive.
Checking ID's is the Police's job!
I agree that is a little too much, no need to invade one's privacy!

If they got copy of your ID they could mess with you and you won't be able to do anything about it.
Not to mention your info in a wrong hands.
Some of them asking to leave it in a bathroom and take a cell phone picture of it.
If you want to take this risk its up to you, of course.

I'm sure some of us remember Italian Sonya and pages of her 10/10 reviews.
If someone was giving her less then 10, she would "took care" of it pretty fast.
BTW She was doing it for several years.
References or P411 for newbie should be more then enogh.

Here is few reasons why
Verification website won't ask to write 10/10 review or change it they way someone want it.
Veryfication website won't get creazy if I use them for reference.
If I do not ask for "ok", my wife can't prove it I actually met someone.
P411 or Date check been in business for years, some girls not.
Sometimes you sharing your info with a booker, not an actual girl.

First.........must explain have the utmost respect for providers.........and do everything I can to illustrate that respect in my words and actions. They provide a much needed service and sometimes at great risk to their safety, reputation, and more. Yet there are more than enough ways to do this.
So many good, decent providers out there and over the years I have visited with more than my share........at a variety of price points. But..........while I have had the good fortune of never being with a CRAZY/unstable one.........showing my driver's license with my home address is way more of a risk than I would ever be willing to take.
Of course, the provider should be protected and a reasonable screening process makes sense. But we hobbyists should be protected also.........at least our privacy.
Just as we screen providers here on TER.........they can screen us. If a hobbyist has a considerable number of reviews over a period of time.........how could that not be enough of a screening process? In each review, whether or not the hobbyist knows it.........he reveals so much more about himself than merely his opinion of his experience with a specific provider. Does not take much to read between the lines.
If hobbyist has a considerable numbers of reviews does not mean he is safe.
We all know about "fake" accounts and fake reviews. Some hobbyiests manage to have 2-3 ter accounts
under diferent names. Some girls give "white list" automatically to people who gave them 10/10
even if they never met. But its better to have "white list" on ter.
I may be an exception.........and am willing to admit it if I am wrong..........but..........TER has scrutinized my reviews ad infinitum.
You have no idea........how many valid......in my estimation.......relevant reviews.........TER has not approved for me. At one point, for several months, I even refused to write reviews (and I frequent at least one provider per week), they had me so frustrated. Yes, have seen a few reviews that were grammatical nightmares and lacking specificity.........but overall, from my own experience..........thought, somehow hobbyists with numerous reviews were pretty real/safe.

Unfortunately just looking at a guy's review history does not mean he is safe to see.
There are guys who have quite the long review history and some of the reviews are fake.
And that is another reason why you cannot accept a whitelist at face value in some situations.
And while I am not saying these are reasons to send a copy of your DL.
I am just saying that looking at a gent's ter review history and whitelist with no verification membership or any other info is not 100% safe.
I have had clients send me that intsead of filingout my contact form. I have never asked for anyone's ID before.

...at the time of your appointment is that your DL contains key identifiers that can be matched with your P411 ID information in order to corroborate that the client is truly the person who holds the P411 profile and not some other guy whom the P411 member allowed to use his profile in order to be cleared to see a lady.
This has only happened to me once and it was by one of Vegas' top Providers. I definitely wasn't going to miss the opportunity to suckle her perky nipples just because I wanted to keep my name private...I don't care if she knows my name. Didn't hurt a bit...just the opposite.
I wouldn't send a copy of my DL nor my real name to a Provider before our meeting. How do I know who I'm really giving that info to? That's why P411 and Date-Chek are such invaluable tools for both hobbyist and provider. I can't remember the last time I met with a provider who wasn't on P411.

First I have never been asked for DL. Also if asked I will not see the lady I have references that should be all a lady needs. I do not use P411 or R2K if references are not good I would move on. I will never give DL info to much pvt info
Send to someone you have no idea who they are ? Are you kidding ?
Bring to a session and show? Maybe, if I just had to see her. TBH whenever I read a provider checks your DL at the start of a date, I simply move on. I won't say never, but so far I haven't shown my DL to any provider

so a gentlemen with a reference, TER whitelists, date-check or p411 would have no reason to send an ID!
But for gentlemen who don't then yes an ID is ok...
A well reviewed lady isn't going to use any information against you.
Its a matter of picking who you are comfortable with.
If you have good reference and reputation built up no need to worry
but safety for everyone is important
and discretion
