Downtown?

I have been considering staying downtown for my next trip.

I know that the downtown hotels aren't considered as "upscale" as many of the strip hotels, but is it going to cause me problems in finding company?

In other words, how do ladies feel about the downtown places?  Does it have any effect on whether you accept an appointment?

Not sure why you would want to stay downtown .......but this is my take.

If a gentleman stays at Golden Nugget. No problem I will go there.( although still prefer a strip hotel)

Any other hotel downtown well..... I may think twice.
The reason ? not becuase it isn't upscale enough........heck I'll come to a motel 6 if it is on the strip.

Here are my issues with downtown.
The area doesn't feel safe. Many drug addicts and low lifes hang around.
I would worry about my nice car being parked there, even if I Valet.

Personally from the part of town I am coming from it is a b**ch getting downtown.

The whole feeling of downtown is just....Ugh ;-(

so don't be surprised if a ladie does promise to show up but ends up flaking on you.

The older hotels are very run down .........why do you want to stay there??

No good reason, I just never have.
Last time out I spent some time in the casino at Fitzgeralds & had a blast, much "looser" feeling than the strip.  Just looking for a touch of the "old Vegas" vibe I guess.
'Course, I've also been considering Barbary Coast for much the same reason, love playing there & wanted to stay there once before Harrahs does whatever the hell they have in mind...
Who knows, likely common sense will win out in the end ;^)

- the room rates are better. Why give money to an impersonal corporation instead of a live warm lady?

- the gambling's better if you're a low roller. Full-pay VP while drinking microbrews at Main Street Station's bar? Sign me up, please.

- casinos are closer together, unlike outlying locals casinos,or the Strip (I swear, they need an "objects appear closer than they are" sign on most Strip casinos, and Sherpas and mule trains to get to your room at the MGM Grand).

- some people don't need fountains, volcanoes, marble bathrooms and 57 different Cirque shows to have a good time.

- it's the last bastion of "old" Vegas- the occasional generous chit shows up from the casino, though I think Benny Binion is spinning at about 1000 RPM in his grave at what they've done to Binion's...

I think downtown's a hoot, and have a blast there when I go. Unfortunately, a lot of ladies think like Cindy, so I stay on the Strip a lot...;)

I agree 100%.  I have stayed on the strip the past couple of times I was in LV and overall enjoyed downtown a lot more.  I usually do stay at the Golden Nugget and enjoy it as much as any strip casino I've stayed at.

The odds are better downtown.  The casinos are much closer together so if you get tired of one place you can easily just move on.  As far as safety, I feel safer under the canopy at midnight than walking along the strip.  From what I've read there have been some nasty occurrences around Barbary Coast lately, it's not like you can escape crime by staying on the strip.

Personally I have never had a provider refuse to see me because I was downtown but I'm sure it happens.  If it happens to me I'll call somebody else.

I have always stayed at Lasvegas Club downtown, cheaper than the golden nuggett and if you waNT A GREAT DINNERthe great moments room in vegas club is relly good. Have fun.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder ;-)

Since I don't drink or gamble I wouldn't know about the gambling odds or lower priced drinks all I see is I wouldn't enjoy hanging out in a place that smells like a giant ash tray and when I walk to my car some weirdo tries to ask for money ............That never happens on the strip.

Also the beds are so old I can feel the springs in my back when trying to have fun.

As you mentioned you stay at GN that is why you never had a provider refuse you .....trying staying at "California" or "Golden Gate" and see what happens;-)

My favorite restaurant(Michaels ) is at Barbary Coast never had a problem and never felt threatened to be around there.

Well each to his own ;-)

don't think like me , they FEEL like me ;-)

and if we don't FEEL safe and comfortable we won't go.

and walking is healthy for you ;-)

Hey Cindy, too bad the Key Largo is gone! ;-)
