There are $5 tables on the strip or near the strip, but the rules are such that the house advantage increases.  This means that while each bet you make will be smaller, you'll lose more money over a time period.  The best value, from what I have read, is MGM in terms of rules on the player versus the house.  This is just my reading, I don't play BJ.

Craps can be alot more fun.  It can be a very complex game if you want to consider the various odds on all the alternative bets.  On the other hand, you can adopt a very simple strategy and play.  Color me in the latter of those options.

Some casinos do offer free play classes during the day.

I would recommend playing some craps online (free sites are available) just to get a feel for play.

My Strategy:

Bet the table minimum on the pass line for a come out roll.
When the point is made, place odds on the point equal to your bet and place on new minimum bet on the come field (this is essentially starting a new game).  If you make your point on the come bet, take odds on that point and place another come bet.
Once you have three points covered, don't place anymore bets until you get paid on your outstanding bets.

Good Luck

I normally can spend hours at the BlackJack tables but hear all the fun at the craps tables, but that is a little more complicaed.  Any good teachers?

Also, can I find a $5 and $10 min BJ table on the strip or do I have to go downtown for that?

I have had a chance to partake in the free craps "lessons" at both MGM and Luxor.  They run around 20 to 30 minutes and give you a pretty quick indoctrination into the game.  As said before, there is a lot going on in this game so try to formulate a basic strategy as you pick it up.  It also helps to just stand back and watch at times and if you have questions, the folks working the table are generally happy to help unless the table is packed.

Early morning is a good time to find an empty table for some "practice" and asking questions.

i know enough to step up to the table and play the basics and have a good time. When I do play table games, its what i play.

LaRue McCay

It is my favorite game. I'd be glad to show you a thing or two.

Go to gift shop and buy a card for playing craps. Two basic players are right way or wrong way bettors. Stay out of the sucker bets in the middle. Back stop would be playing 6 and 8. Always take the odds bets without it the house has a tremendous odds.

He offers instruction on how to play the game and How to throw the dice.

I took a private lesson once, and he offer groups sessions.

I'm thinking of taking a "tune up" class.
