I would say on the main strip. A majority of us stay on the strip. Hotel security could be issue - there are threads on here with a list of Hotels that have elevator security.
Cosmo is not a good choice, as you need a room key card to operate the elevator (Note: but the key is Not floor specific. many times I have stayed there, and once I slide my key card in - I just as people which floor they need and start pressing).
Hotels Without security at elevators (that I know of)
MB, Luxor Excalibur Tropicana (cool hotel, reasonable) Paris Bally's Flamingo TI Planet Hollywood.
PH, Bally's, Paris, Flamingo are all centrally located. Paris and Bally's have a stop for the monorail (if it is still running)
Just like any other hotel that has key card access to floors. I stay there often when I travel down there. Just meet your date at the Chandelier Bar or any bar downstairs. Have a drink and then take her up to your room. Easy peasy.
I HATE the strip, so I'd opt for downtown as the first choice and near the strip as a backup. If you're hoping to see guys that have traveled here, my preferences probably don't work as well.
Downtown has the advantage over the strip in terms of gaming odds for craps. Poker tournaments have a lower buy in.
There are a couple of very good restaurants downtown, Vic and Anthony's and the Charthouse. The former mayor's steakhouse downtown sounds like a hoot, Oscar's beef booze and broads supposedly has hostesses that will join your table as you dine. I haven't been.
Rooms are generally cheaper as are meals.
Some providers refuse to go downtown at all and a comment I have read more than once is that the Golden Nugget is the only downtown property they'll visit.
The downtown hotels are not known for their pool experiences.
The crowds downtown tend to be "down market", but I have never felt uncomfortable with the crowds.
The also have some street concerts with some good bands
If you are new to LV, you can see a lot more properties being down on the strip compared to downtown.
As long as the place is clean and most are, I have no problem. Downtown is usually pay to park, so you might want to take care of that for a provider that visits you. If you are looking for a place and for entertainment, you really should see both the strip and downtown. Lots to see and do in Vegas.. beside just me.. Kisses AM
always stay at the Venetian. great rooms. never had hassle from security, but you will have to meet downstairs in the lobby or casino before going up to room. have to show key card to get in the towers.
