Question for the gents and ladies. As a local now since I won't have a room on the strip anymore I was seeing if someone knows of a good place for a get together. The problem I have is I would only use it for a few hours and not overnight. I don't want a dump but something fairly reasonable where they would question being there for a short amount of time. Thanks.
...I am thinking CSI here. I think you don't skimp on a hotel room, it's takes away from the experience for the some of the girls. Others don't care as much.
What I do, since I don't gamble much and really don't care so much about location either downtown or the strip, I ask her to list several hotels that she likes or are easy for her to get to.
Remember the more comfortable she is and the less she has to travel, the better your chance of having a fun date. Traffic in Vegas is brutal, dangerous and gnarly and she may be driving so keep that in mind. Much worse traffic in Vegas than Socal.
I once was with a girl that lived in North Vegas and she loved the Golden Gate rooms. They art deco'd them a few years back and although small, they were clean and old and unique. I could always request a certain room there which had a flashing red light outside the window. So very appropriate and we laughed hard about it everytime we were there. It was like $33/night. Very unique and art deco.
I try hard to take my dates to places they have not been before. It creates a newness, I think.
Better just to ask your friend where she would like to stay.
My personal favorite is the Hilton Grand Vacations suites on the strip, but it usually isn't cheap.
I've used Tuscany Suites on Flamingo. Separate buildings, rooms are very large, fridge and sink. I get internet specials where you can book a number of nights to be used over a 3 or 4 month period. Been as low as $25. Looks like this week they are 33 without a special. Not bad and the rooms have been recently redone.

The Suncoast has amazing room rates during the week. I've reserved rooms for visiting family members costing as little as $49/night.
Red Rock Casino has rooms starting at $95/night.
JW Marriott has rooms starting at $119/night.
These are amazing rates for such luxurious rooms.
Also, it also never hurts to ask for a "day rate." I've asked for--and been honored--day rates in the past when nothing in the hotel/resort policy mentioned the allowance of such a thing. Just ask! You may be surprised.
Thanks for the answers everyone. You have helped a bunch.

You have a ton of choices. Depends on what you want in a date.
If you still seek a dinner \ Drink date - then strip hotel still better. You can get great rates still on strip places (Luxor, Trop, MGM, MC).
Off strip; but close look at any of the Marriott places by the LVH
Resort Off strip GVR, Red Rock (real cool) and Southpoint. Even Orleans.
Any Hotel does not care. In my business I have to bounce around sometimes. I recall checking into Denver Hotel for 3 hours before my Company called and I was needed in SF. I just called down to desk and asked then to check me out.
Just find a place you feel safe in (that's why I suggest strip or just off strip places)
I really like the rush tower (golden nugget) the rooms are great, modern, clean, little couch area. To be honest the suits are not any nicer than the standard room, I little bigger. But there are only $20-$30 more.
The rooms are easy for people to get to... The rush tower has its own vallet, and room elevators are right inside the vallet.
It's not really a rent by the hour but if you want a nice room with out spending $200+ it's great.
