Hey all
I will be in Vegas newyears eve with my wife (no playing this trip). Could anyone suggest a place to have dinner and see the fireworks also?  Any suggestions would be great.

Another fairly nice place although slightly off strip would be the club/restaruant at the top of The Rio.  The Vodoo Lounge has a great view towards the strip, decent food, and prices aren't too bad! As is also the Playboy Club across the street.

I believe Fireworks are shot off from MGM, Aria, Planet Hollywood, Aria, Caesar's, Treasure Island, Venetian and Stratosphere.  The obvious choices for dining would be at the top of the Eiffel Tower or Stratosphere.  I'm sure there are other top floor dining establishments.  

Eventually some of the locals may chime in here.  

What I meant to say is Caesar's would be a good place to watch fireworks a swould area of MGM..Eating places since you didn't say what your wanting would also be tough. Start looking and make your reservation now..New Yrs is great in Vegas..

Like many have mentioned in this thread, Vegas is a fantastic place to spend New Years.  It's also going to be packed and a lot of restaurants are most likely filling up FAST.  

Here are my suggestions....

The Stratosphere Top of the World restaurant ---- is absolutely incredible. The entire sitting area rotates a 360 degree turn in one hour....so if you are dining, you can see the entire Valley in the course of a meal.  Afterwards, just step into the lounge area (also at the top of the world) for a few drinks and live music.  Really cool ambiance, velvet, laid back, festive.  And the drink menu is diverse and offers a great value.

The Eiffel tower restaurant at Paris Las Vegas ---- may be a bit more difficult to get into as it is smaller, more prestigious, more showy.  Great food, a tad overpriced for my opinion....but it IS New Years....  

Olives at the Bellagio ----  sits right on the strip, over the water, cool vibe...great menu, excellent food.

Mon Ami Gabi is also at Paris Las Vegas ---- is also great...it sits on the strip, right across from the Bellagio fountains, and makes an impressive date.  Exceptional brunch FYI

Morels at Palazzo ---- has great food, and they also sit right on the strip with outside dining.  For some reason they too provide French cuisine (along with Eiffel Tower and Mon Ami Gabi)...but you can't go wrong for a perfect marriage between ambiance and food.

The strip on NY's Eve is a really great place to just get out and walk if you want to "be a part of the action".  Just get out and mingle in the throng of people, the energy, the excitement, the buzz....it is not to be missed in this lifetime if you ever have the chance.  The entire strip closes down from around 9pm onwards to about 2am.  No cars, no traffic, just drunken bliss.  NOW.....a wise warning to heed....if you do not have a room key to one of the strip casinos, you will not be able to get in to them for about 45 minutes or so during the fireworks.   Oh what a bummer to those who are engaging in behaviors of luscious intoxication.  For there are not many port-a-potties along the strip.  Each casino is guarded at the door and without a room key you are SOL.

It's on Sunset, to the south of the Strip (right across from the airport), but its location gives you a great view of the strip and an excellent site line to the fireworks.  Below is a link to their New Year's Eve special.
