Since apparently we're instituting some kind of new rule about posting under an alias, does "DON'T POST UNDER AN ALIAS AND THEN AGAIN WITH YOUR NAME" mean don't do it in the same thread, or you're not allowed to post under an alias and your TER username at all on this board, or what?

If one of our mods wanted to clear that up, that'd be great. I wouldn't want to break a rule by not knowing exactly what it is.

As a side comment, it seems to me that it would probably be wise to announce changes in policy to the board first and then institute the policy, rather than have people find out rules are changing by having the mod post in ALL CAPS at them... but I'm not the mod here. This also isn't the first time I've noticed the rules on posting on the Vegas board get changed before it gets announced publicly. It seems rather high-handed.

have our esteemed moderator get a clarification on the alias policy, there's one I'm sure on the site, and publish it for all to see.

Alias should not be allowed. Only your true handle name.........then there would be no problems.

If someone wants to say something they should stand behind their words or not say anything at all.

but I think he meant don't post in the same thread under your alias and again with your name...............but I can be wrong.

At least I am not afraid to stand behind my words;-)

"I would love to see aliases eliminated. It's one thing to bash someone. That is bad enough. To have someone knock someone else and say something blatantly untrue by cowardly hiding behind an alias should be stopped. This has been hapening recently with providers knocking guys they don't like. If they want to do it, I am all for free speach but at least have the guts to stand by the post and let everyone know that you are the one doing this."

He forgot to mention guys knocking providers they don't like and providers knocking providers they are jealous of .........but I agree with Santino.

.....for Hobbiest on this site, our Handle is an alias to begin with (for understood reason)

We can Play, Tease, Promote, Discuss, Suggest, Disagree and bring up whatever is on our mind.
Personally, I like (sometimes) to see Part of where something is coming from (i.e.....who they've seen and their reviews,...and maybe remember some past posts here........someone whose thoughts I'd consider, or another that I wasn't impressed by much)
I've had the opportunity to meet several of the Hobbiest here and then, also, decide by their personality, egos, sense of reality and other life,........ and respect for themsleves physically (or lack of) whose thoughts, advice, or suggstions I cared to consider.  We're, of course, not all on the same page!  And, it's become very clear to me, for more reasons than my own, why many Hobbiest pay for Providers to begin with.
Enough rambling.  Occasionally, an obvious alias is funny.  And,  In previous discussions, various other situations for using an alias have been mentioned.  I don't go for that, ....if I have something to say, I've at least got the balls to speak up and face others here under my original alias, be recognized, and face whatever reactions it might bring.

On the other hand, maybe that's too close to reality......and, not what this site is about ????

LOL

At the top of every board there is this:
“This is a moderated forum in which flames and messages outside the forum topic will be deleted. Please do not post messages that are simply mean, or meant to cause trouble for trouble's sake. This is not the area to post detailed reviews. Please submit them in the review section. That said, have fun.”

The request to post for clarification purposes the aliases policy will not happen. Why, because there is none. The brief and somewhat open-ended rules posted above on each board are designed that way. There are no hard and fast “rules”.  Even if you start searching and come up with a thread that is 2-years old and another that is 3-years old, I doubt that will add much clarification to the subject either. Attitudes and opinions can change by the hour in our world.

There is a Moderators Board, where many topics are discussed. Sometimes there is consensus, often there is not. That would be true with any board and groups of people. However, one topic that seems to have almost unanimous consensus is the use of multiple aliases on the same discussion thread. Why? More often than not use of multiple aliases or the use of user name in conjunction with an alias are done to hide, miss-lead others, insult people, “cause trouble for trouble’s sake” and can become a reason why other participants cannot “have fun”.

I offer the following as an example only. I allowed this moron’s posts to go through for demonstration purposes only. He posted under the following names:
IDidntKnowSheHadACock
SheTookADumpOnMeSoIAteIt
I See Dud People
He is on permanent moderated status (not by me), and his future posts will never see the light of day.

There are many opinions about allowing or not allowing aliases. I won’t give you mine because it really does not matter. Dr. Cindy got it right. This was about posting as an alias, then coming back later and posting under the true user name. Again, consensus has been to not allow it for the above stated reasons. Will I moderate you for doing it? Probably not. I do happen to be one that believes in that unwritten policy and I will call you on it if it occurs. Heck even in this thread it was done by someone, but I’m not even going there, since I believe it was done in good humor. Also, it seems and has been proven that the longer a thread gets, the more aliases use more aliases and so on.

What is not seen is the number of posts that come into the queue that members never see. The sample above is just one case.

As an aside there were some 35-40 ad posts in the queue over the AVN period that never saw the board. Every single one was an ad post that did not follow the rules from out of town providers wanting to get in on the action. Was that “high handed”? I don’t think so, but it was for sure consistent.

I think it is Rule #39 or close to it, which says you do not have to like the Moderator. I will have to try and find it and post it at a later date. Having said all this;

“HAVE FUN”

......I think she's absolutely right.  One reason the Phoenix Board is barely readable now is because so many jerks simply use aliases to take shots at others, that many of us who used to read and contribute there rarely do so anymore.
I say the Mods should call the aliases out!

And you might also note that the policy about how to make ad posts get regularly posted in this forum, for the benefit of all. If someone ignores that, they aren't paying attention.

No. In fact, one can like someone (or not have any particular animosity towards someone) and not approve of particular decisions.

So "don't read too much into the criticism" would probably be where I leave it...

Lets see---we could have parties with invitations to everyone----he can then moderate us---no chair throwing----Quality Seeker can't have a drink----and those who have had words previously must be warned they should bring their own date as most of the ones there do not like you----or some other kind of shit!

Why all the complaining----Las Vegas had a good moderator prior to Smarty and now Smarty is doing a great job with what he has to work with!

Though I suppose that isn't written down, either.

Don't worry, though, you could always post the second under an alias...

Thurston, did someone spike your Milk of Magnesia this morning, or what? Even Smarty will tell you the previous mod had a lot of issues. MichaelCA was a great mod, Cheesewiz was ok, too.

As for Smarty's performance, IMHO, the jury is still out. Frankly, I'm a little offended by his post. He's coming off a little bit like the Messiah when he probably has the easiest board to work with on the entire site. As for my own credentials, I moderate on another site, and have been participating on these boards over 10 years now-since the beginning and before TER. I believe I'm qualified to make that judgment.

No one, to my knowledge, was disinvited to the last party. It was disappointing that neither you nor Smarty showed up, but that was your choice. We have a great community here, everyone generally gets along, it's very much self-policing.

Let's look at your track record briefly. You spend a lot of dough up here, so why should you care? I read your review of a $400 handjob you got a couple of years back. She's pretty hot, but $400 (it's $700 now, rofl...I love Vegas!)? As for that $2700 table at AVN*, well, that was bad luck, but as a general rule, when I'm playing F. Scott Fitzgerald, I have a little more control over the guest list. Only a guy named Thurston would lay out $2700 for a box of chocolates. Then there was that little deal where I paid a provider a compliment, you misinterpreted it, and without even asking me about it, you fired off missives to both the moderator and the provider suggesting I wanted to kill her. This was irresponsible and unforgivable on both your parts, as the idea behind these boards is to facilitate, not inhibit, transactions. At the very least, you think I could have been given the benefit of the doubt? Or did the Alzheimer's take over there?

Look, you're a pretty wealthy guy, you stay in suites at Bellagio, which means you're paying $1K a night for a hotel room, or you're worth about $10K a weekend to the casino (in their view). You can afford pretty much anyone you want to see. Why not be an ignorant, but happy, square, and be done with it? Why even bother with us unappreciative, unwashed, lowbrow peons?

The last thing, and certainly not least important (although Smarty disagrees with this), is that most of us live here, and you don't. Your view of this city is generally limited to the vicinity of Las Vegas Blvd. and Flamingo. That's fine, but if you're going to do that, please be a nice tourist, hang out a couple of days, contribute to the local economy, don't act too much like a jackass, get laid a couple of times, but eventually do go home.

*I was a vendor at the original Adult CES shows at the old Aladdin in 1983-85. It was a lot more fun back then. Those days remind me a bit as to how most of our community gets along with each other. I note that Fast Eddie, the PSE board mod, complained a lot about this year's show. Well, it's been like that for a while now, it's a part maybe we're getting older, a part that it's gotten way too large and too commercial, and a part that, because it's the porno show, people can act like even bigger jackasses than normal.
