Hey there Guys and Gals If you didn't know I was in L.A.
this whole week. I had planned to be able to check my email
and answer my phone WELL My laptop's wireless would not work
and my room didn't have a connection (I won't stay there again)
I left thebcharger for my dead cell phone right by my front door (placed there so I would not forget it)and finaly Last but certainly not least My PC got wiped out while I was gone!!!
So when I did get a chance to get to my email I had 99 unread
emails. So PLEASE PLEASE bear with me I have lost all of my contact info on some of my favorite people. If anyone is trying
reach me please feel free to call me. Oh yah, I almost forgot I
also missed my flight home and the later one that I did end up
on was delayed an hour. I guess its just Murphey's Law.
BTW thank you LA I had a blast and I am already planning my
next trip out there. Any suggestions on a great hotel with good
shopping & high speed internet I liked the W Hotel in Westwood
Jenni
There is also a website geektools that listed hotels in US and other countries that has high speed internet connection: http://www.geektools.com/geektels/showstates.php?country=USA . (courtesy of another TER member) Their list is not totally up to date but close enough.
Hope this will help.

high speed internet connection. I have yet to see one that offered hourly rate. The standard is $9.95/day in LV, SoFlorida and LA.
Hi Jenni-
There has been a crazy virus going around so be careful if your e-mails have attachments with the subjects:
*Your application
*Your details
*that movie
*Wicked screensaver
*thank you
etc. DO NOT OPEN THEM! I am attaching a link to a story about it. I have been getting an inordinate amt. of e-mail as well. Just a heads up.
I got my computer up and going (without any of my old info)
So if we had planned on something in the
near or distant future please call me
or drop me a new email PLEASE
I do NOT have any email addresses
or phone numbers prior to 8/19/2003
Anyway, since My computer has been running
I have been getting bombarded with these
virus attatchments and one of the email adresses
was [email protected]
So be warned even if you trust the email address
be cautious because this think is "wicked"
It reminds me of the sircam virus that would send out files from your own computer to everyone on your e-mail address lists- many of my research papers (for school) and random photos and other documents were sent to people on my lists- from all of my e-mails- and the subject line was: "for your perusal," or "for your review." Since the recipients recognized my address, they would open the attachment- see my document- and thereby catch the virus. I would get many puzzled responses asking why I wanted them to review a recipe for hummus or a photo of myself! But I did get some very helpful reviews of my school research. Thank God this was before I became a provider-can you imagine the mayhem?
XOXO Holly
Nod, one of the things the virus does is use an entry in an infected person's address book to send emails that look like they are coming from one place when they are coming from another. My company was completely protected, but we still receive about 30 automated responses saying viruses had been sent from our mail servers. Pretty tricky. Glad to hear you're back online ![]()
Did anyone not get spammed by any of the SoBig virus variations? I did and then I started getting better informed on internet security... I like this site

Just for grins I downloaded spyware (link for this and many others here) and ran it and it found 80 instances of spyware o my harddrive!!! Most of them were tracking my movement on the web and sending the data back to a database somewhere. Think I am going to get serious about personal privacy now! Check it out!
Yes, you'd be stunned what a program like Adaware can find on your PC. I run the thing every month or so just to check and I'm never sorry I did. Probably the most useful free program I've ever downloaded.
Amazing program and free you are soo right, wish I had found it before I did ... the Adaware is the program that found the 80 counts of spyware items. I also downloaded ZoneAlarm for the free 14 trial and it seemed to me to be so awesome that I coughed up the $39.95 for a year's purchase. It caught a trojan horse called black box, (or something equally wicked sounding.. not like nasty! ... just bad and wicked) trying to enter my computer. ZoneAlarm caught it and sent it packing! If anyone reads this old 'posting' and downloads the trial note that the trial version is called ZoneAlarm and once you buy it - it is called ZoneAlarmPro.
Also downloaded the free idserve.exe ... I test the incoming IP addresses from the ZoneAlarm log with this gizzmo. You enter an IP address and idserve returns the server name thus identifying them... if the IP address doesn't cooperate then I block that IP address on ZoneAlarm. It takes time but once a site or IP address is placed in ZoneAlarm's blocked zone it rejects it when it attempts to access your computer. I love power!
