Thinking of staying in condo/suite there during NCAAA tourney.  With gated security is it going to a be hassle for "friends" to get in?

Alternative is Vdara

To get into Palms Place. They have security by the elevators. I'm not sure about Vdara.

There should be no hassle on Palms Place but there is security and if there is not you need a key for the elevators.Meet your provider at the bar or outside in the valet.Easy enough.
However,if I had a choice between vdara or palms place I would go with vdara newer property they have a bar with snacks close to the hotel elevators you can meet your lady there. And vdara very short walk to aria if you want to do the gambling thing.
Good luck to you!

The place has become one of my preferred venues precisely because it's on the strip but away from the casino craziness.  I've stayed there twice in the past month.

Security is always around.  They might be a little lax during the noon-through-5PM period, since that's when most of the check-in/check-out action goes on; but if you intend to have visitors in the evening, you will have to come down and meet them.  OTOH, there's never a hassle from Security if you just swoop in to collect your friends and head for the elevator.

Palms Place is hit or miss on security.  fwiw, I think the entire Palms property is far less desirable than it used to be.  It's gone way downhill since the original management was forced out--simple stuff like general state of cleanliness and keeping the rooms "fresh-feeling" have suffered quite a bit.

If you're going to prefer Palms to Vdara:  Don't know how much your priorities are weighted towards NCAA vs making new friends (or what your budget is), but for hobby purposes, the Fantasy Tower suites at Palms (not Palms Place) are much more fun (again, subject to the general caveat about the whole place looking/feeling ragtaggy of late).

I am making it the Vdara - sounds a good mix of quiet but still close to some action.
