I had not yet read the posting rules.  I used my alias and my then-handle on the same thread, and I didn't get flipped, but I got a 30-day posting suspension.  It gave me 30 days to learn the rules.  Lol

Weren't the discussion boards limited on who could post? IIRC a couple years ago you had to be a paying member to post on the boards. VIP through review writing didn't give you access. Am i right?

Wondering if things will revert back to that

posting was, and still is, restricted are the RO and PO boards.  I've been a VIP since day one when I joined in 2008, so I can't tell you if there are board perks that come with VIP membership, or not.  Maybe someone else knows.

Pretty sure VIP only gets you details for the reviews and PM functionality. Discussion boards are open.

is the ability to post under an alias.  Also, prior to 09/10, VIP handles were allowed to have unlimited alias's, not just one.  However, if you posted in the same thread under more than one alias, or under your handle and an alias, TER would flip all your alias's to your handle.  As far as I know, posting in the same thread under your handle & your alias still gets your alias flipped.

There's a guy somewhat active on the DC Board who bothers to sign in under several different handles just to post on his own threads ... LOL, how sad is that?

Most of the time posting under multiple aliases just got you moderated and your posts pulled. Occasionally someone would abuse the system badly enough that he/she would get their aliases flipped.

It's always been a judgment call whether to pull the posts or flip the alias, a lot of it has to do with intent. I know back in the days of multiple aliases I would forget all the time that I already had a post on the same thread under a different name, I of course was able to fix my own mistakes, but it made me sympathetic to those other posters who would do this by accident as well.
