Sorry CDL, Im borrowing this from you, as I think you make a very important point here in a recent thread.  I think this message should "Ring" loudly in the ears of every new hobbyist or any hobbyist struggling internally with reality vs.  fantasy.  

It doesn't matter what they (providers) say and how convincing they may say it to you.  They will whisper....I love you!....I miss you!...make you feel like you're "different" and "special" from all others.  Just smile.....reciprocate....fornicate and most important...make sure to extricate.  Shieeet!...that'll rhymed!...LOL.
