Of has the userbase to do whatever it wants to. It's not difficult to institute crypto paymensOf makes an average woman a lot of money. I have seen a computer science student (or was it grad) rop out and start of because it made a lot more money (at last initially).
Clearly this is not just a new fad/trend but been around a few years.
Given the rates listed I would think it might be an option some of potential K-girls that might have shown up in the States might see as a good alternative. But somewhat interesting to see that they seem to have some of the same problems we hear about K-girls dealing with from overly attached and gullible(?) customers.

What they are doing in the article (paid companionship without sex) is tough and doesn't seem to pay all that well (upper limit of 400k won for beauty pagent girls is $270)....lower limit is 70 bucks
OF ad other video sex work outlets pay way more money.
Kgirls come here to fulfill very specific needs (sex) that is universally known and they can make money fast.
Yeah I don't see these companionship jobs taking away from the pool of kgirls. Many kgirls already have worked as working girls in Korea or Japan or whatever.
I might be wrong, but while sex work drains you physically and also makes you dull emotionally... Imo companionship work can drain your emotions. I couldn't imagine being with someone who only paid you to get their ex partner jealous.
And sex work is more honest so to speak...you know what the clients want and it's all uniform. Here everyone got their own problems and worries. Like you almost have to be a good psychologist to be a good companion. And you still have to watch out for people who want you sexually.
To sum it up I think the vienn diagram for potential companionship workers and potential future kgirls don't really have much of an intersection.
Especially considering the fact that there are a lot of NK women in the kgirl biz. Like a lot.
But im interested to hear other opinions.
$270/ = $561,600.00/year; $70/hour = $145,000.00/year. If not tax or even if taxed, not bad for an "unskilled" labor job. I'd guess the venn intersection is the IOP aspect. I probably wouldn't exclude the sex for some of the providers. I think of these new off shouts, like cuddlers, PV providers, and even AMPs, which some don't provide sex are similar. But I'd have to agree with you, a rent-a-friend business model doesn't seem to have any legs to me.
"And sex work is more honest so to speak...you know what the clients want and it's all uniform. "
.
This is a bleak and unappetizing view of sex work, and doesn't describe the women I repeat with or want to find. The good ones, IMO, know that men are different (contra the stereotype) and pick up on that.
.
Perhaps there are men who "just want to get a nut" with no human interaction, and pay for qv or hhr to do that. On second thought, no "perhaps" about it -- some have said exactly that in this forum. And sure, there are women who cater to them and look no deeper.
.
But I can handle mere hydraulic relief just fine by myself. It's the interaction with a real functioning person, the give and take of pleasures, the emotions that sex arouses in me, that make mongering worth my time, money, and effort.
.
Yes, sex work is more honest! But let's be honest about how bad that drearily uniform sex work can be for us, the clients.
.
I will still maintain that ranges of what is expected are very different.
Maybe its the word "uniform" that makes it bleak, because imo there's nothing inhrebntly bleak there. It's just goals and purposes are more clear.
Like you've said there's a subset of clients who do want mostly one thing. It will have human interaction but they're buying sex too.
So it's more predictable.
Whereas renta"friend" the ranges of what is requested can be insane. A guy might pay you to talk to him because he needs to talk to someone after death of his sister. A guy might pay you to fake a real relationship with him to fool his friends. The wide array of requests can be insane. I think things are more grounded in sex work but then again I might be wrong.
Just how is sex work more honest that the type of companionship services described in the news story? I'm missing something as it seems there is much less scope for deception or setting expectations about what is offered in that line of work than we see in sex work.
Honesty in this context isnt about deceiving a client with fake pics or whatever.
Here's what I said : "And sex work is more honest so to speak...you know what the clients want and it's all uniform"
What I meant is
1) fulfilling what a man typically wants in line of sex work is much more straightforward to do
2) it is harder to fail at it. Yes sessions can still be bad even if a man ejaculates, we all know that, but there are some universally accepted goals... in rentafriend there are none, it's all dependent on what the purpose is. The "purpose" of "renting" a sex worker is way clearer and "honest". I assume it's the same with evaluating the performance.
Not sure it makes sense but I tried lol
that escort was a term used for a woman who could be rented out to accompany a man who, for whatever reason, needed to have someone with them at an event such as a company function or similar venue.
This were legitimate and didn't raise too much of a concern. In fact I recall one time when I was new in business and attended such a function with my wife, the people at the head table were introduced along with the women that they were with, and one such person's companion was introduced as his "escort", which did not register any gasps as far as I could tell.
So, nothing new under the sun here.
Yes, the term escort has changed in meaning and connotation over the years, but that is part of what I'm musing about. The type of work mentioned will not raise eyebrows among friends and family if known, whereas K-girls here do keep all this secret from friends and family.
BTW, rentafriend is still alive and doing okay (pay is not what the Asians are getting it seems) here in the USA.
version of the "Cuddling" for money craze a few years back, where women were getting up to $60/hr hour for cuddling fully clothed. Fat girls did okay, too. The more flesh, the better the cuddle, some would say.
One was just a cuddler and I didn't push the envelope and gave her a modest tip and went on my way. One rolled over and put her huge cans in my face while laying on my back and it was game on for a great GFE session. The third asked me if I liked spooning and hearing in the affirmative, snuggled right into me and pulled my arm over her covered breasts and said "boobs can be very therapeutic you know." Solid PSE after that and we've been playing since.
I believe there's a lot of ladies doing cuddles because they can operate with less scrutiny then they would get seen working as an escort.
Interesting article on payments (by CC) to OF. If OF has really been the source of drawing K-girls from providing then, assuming the big CC brands are forced to block payments to any sex related content channels what happens? Seems one view should be that those girls will return to directly providing and we'll see more showing up at the agencies.
If not then something else must be the explanation for why the current market does not seem like it was in 2017 and before.
