K-girls

Would you consider this untasteful, unacceptable, or just laugh it off?

So there's a review that seems to poke a little fun at the pronunciation of the k girl. Does it qualify as a racial remark or is it too subtle to file a problem report?

Considering he gave her a decent review and didn't really come off as a racist or anything since the reviewer seems to primarily see Asians.

However, a reviewer poking a lil fun at the k-girl's pronunciation, in something as officially documented as her profile review, seemed a bit ununnecessary.

While I don't really care if a buddy jokes around every now and then, I think this is different from a friend saying it in jest.

Then again it might not be so different from a review of a Russian girl quoting her saying "you half nice ears". Half? :)

I am offended by such but some guys are just way too dense to know that they are being very insensitive.  I am reminded of a well known reviewer who speaks to girls in stereotypical Asian Engrish and pass it off as more "understandable" over standard English.  That to me is as offensive as speaking in ghetto talk to person of color just because he or she is black.  It has no place in today's society.

But is it racist?  No, he's not indicated that one race is superior to another.  He's only verified he's an ass.

He made a point of drawing attention to something for which the girl has likely studied her butt off to improve upon.  She traveled halfway around the world and ended up meeting him - I'm ashamed when I see/hear situations like this.  Want to roll up a newspaper and smack him on the nose "bad client!" and send him to BP to think about what he's done.

I love it when others take an interest in learning how to converse with me, whether my native or learned tongues, it's all a sign of respect.  While that person and I might laugh together about a phrase's wording, translation, or our own accents, it's done in person with one another and face to face; never would you speak of this outside of that circle of trust and especially in regards to someone's reviews and therefore their reputation

Poor taste transcends race or color, religion or creed - it is a derivation of ignorance, which can permeate to the core.  As you say, it has no place in modern society.

I poke fun at almost every race out there, if something funny comes up.

People might think it's mean.... but Jay Leno once said: "I know it's mean, but funny precedes mean".  ROFL :D

I'm a believer of: It's hard to find a true racist. However, everyone can be a little bit dumb and ignorant at times

I agree that poking fun at any person who is struggling with a new language is totally out of place. However, on a slightly different note I sometimes find myself reverting to a very simple form of English in an attempt to communicate with some of these gals. I have paused to wonder if this is doing them a favor or if it could even be construed as being condescending. Any feelings on this? Looking for honest input.  Ciao!

You are attempting to find a way to communicate & connect. With the KDs rather than be demeaning or condescending . If it works continue if it doesn't try something else that might work.

Back to the OP poking fun of the accent or the way a non native speaker speaks a language is at the very least insulting , demeaning & cruel if not racist.

They are adults and to speak to them in Engrish, baby talk, or ghetto talk, etc can be construed as insulting. I would talk to them in standard English and if they have trouble understanding you, you can then slow down or resort to a pocket translator to get your thoughts across.

Most girls dont understand enough english to tell if your simplfying your eng or not.  None of the girls ive known ever said they felt talked down too....more they laugh and say they have no idea what you guys are trying to say..

But they do think its cute when you guys try to speak korean to them...

If you guys want to develop better gfe or better service try to learn some korean.  Its no surprise guys who speak korean end up having relationships.  But hey maybe thats not what you want.

I haven't looked at the review. So I can only answer theoretically. Even then, without context it is hard to say.

My ATF and I just had a wonderful session yesterday. She called me her "#1 fan". We got to joking around so I said she was my f*** buddy. Then I had to teach her the meaning of "buddy" and the difference in pronunciation between buddy and body. She's decided she really likes the idea of a f*** buddy.

Occasionally I quote her in a post. I try to be true to the occasion with my description. Like: "Leave gift home. Take guarana and maca root. Bring cock."

Did I laugh about the language lesson or the quote above? Absolutely. Does that make me a racist? I don't think so. But I wouldn't, now would I?

This is one of those questions that is good to ask but almost impossible to answer most of the time. We all know when it's easy to answer. But those are generally (I hope) edge cases.

I met a lovely Latino a week ago, and she could run laps around me in Spanish, French, or Italian - but her English was weak.  We both laughed as I tried-out my old HS french on her, with only mixed results. Maybe she is laughing good-naturedly at my attempts now, and that would be fine with me.  Laughing at accents isn't exactly the highest form of humor, and it can cross a line when comedians stereotype a bit grotesquely and turn it into a form of mockery - but, on the other hand, seeing the humor in situations - like attempts to communicate - is part of being human and keeps things from being so deadly serious all the time
