I recently learned of a young guy that spends his Sundays driving such a girl to the nail salon, grocery store, sauna, etc., and waits in the car while she takes care of her business. I inadvertently insulted him when I suggested he was being used. He thinks its a mutual love affair. Such is the power that these NK girls wield over their unsuspecting customers. When it comes to a NK girl, you are NEVER more than a customer.

Well a lot of those 17-18 y.o., and younger, end up as forced brides in China and never get to SK or elsewhere. Not really sure what the percentages are but maybe that's a better alternative than NK.

Are working in NK slaver operations. I haven't seen any indication of that in SoCal. The NK girls I know have their own apartments in Ktown and some have cars. The top girls own their own incalls and their roommate is usually a SK girl working for THEM. All are high-volume and work very hard because they're obsessed with money. Some make twice what an average SK girl makes.
I'm saying that might be a possibility in some cases. You also won't tell that merely because they are driving cars and appear to have their own apartments -- or even may have them. Other than the slave factories in China, Russia and some other places in the world the only ones allowed out are the family of the elite. If you think the idea of pimping out daughters to show loyalty and bring in hard currency is beyond that regime you'd be very naive.
That said, I'm not loosing too much sleep of the possibilities that you guys are funding NK because I think even if it's occurring it's not really going to make much difference if stopped or if allowed but to claim you know or that it's simply not possible would be under estimating the regime. I generally try not to rely on one source or even one geographic location.
I sometimes try to talk current events with some of my hostesses, especially when it's a big headline. I want to know what she or her friends and family back in SK are thinking (not some OpEd piece or a talking head on TV). More often than not, there is no awareness of the latest missile launch, sanctions, or threat of an invasion (or maybe it's faked disinterest). They came through China, or accepted asylum and S. Korea citizenship, and then jumped here.
One NK woman told me she was captured trying to escape to China. She was put in a camp, and raped often more than once daily by any guard who wanted her. She escaped again, and ended up in a forced marriage in China. She escaped again and received asylum. After seeing her prospects in the South with no education, family, or anything else, ended up in sex work and then over here. I have heard more than one story like this. When it comes to kgirls being/claiming to be from NK, I would definitely take it with a grain of salt. There's a 95% chance she's S.Korean and she's playing the sympathy card and trying to get a greencard and/or co-signer. If a girl TRULY was from NK, it means she made her way to SK at a very young age and was able to assimilate long enough to act/look/sound more S.Korean than North. That way, she'll have been able to work in an officetel and/or full salon. From my recent experiences in Seoul, officetels are basically "Kgirl Academy."
A girl that came from NK at an older age would mean she would be considered as a 2nd or even 3rd class citizen and would end up working in an RLD or some dingy "anma." I highly doubt a full salon or officetel in Gangnam would higher a N.Korean girl... it would basically sully that establishment. North Koreans have a VERY distinct accent and grammatical differences than those in S.Korea so it would be obvious to shop owners.
I had a white friend of mine who learned to speak Spanish in the border towns of N Mexico and who spends a lot of time in Colombia. He is reasonably fluent in Spanish and couldn't figure out why a "rich gringo" like himself who also spoke Spanish couldn't get the time of day from any of the chicas in Medellin. He had no idea just how "gutter" his Spanish was. I had to tell him to just quit even trying to speak Spanish in Colombia and to stick to English if he ever wanted to get laid down there.
I also remember years ago watching "Lost" with my Korean GF and her commenting on just how bad Daniel Dae Kim's "American accent" was when speaking Korean on the show. As an American, I of course couldn't tell the difference, but she sure could. It was plainly obvious to her that he was "Korean-American" and not "Korean"

I think it would be common among all people not to recognize accents in languages with which they are unfamiliar. Not sure how bashing only "Americans" for it is warranted.
Perhaps there's a distinction between "recognizing a particular accent" and "recognizing that there can be distinct accents" in other languages. Failing the first is common, failing the second is just ignorant.
Note also that many adults cannot hear accent distinctions within their own language, and certainly cannot imitate them or change their own accent. There's an evolutionary story about that, but it leads us astray from our culture-bashing ... .
