Silly ass question but I’m going to ask anyway. Given how widespread HSV1 is in the general population what percentage of K-girls might any of you speculate are positive for it. I’ve speculated that some of those sudden “vacations” are likely an outbreak of this or worse the HSV2 variety. Occasionally mongers report an HSV2 rumor or themselves having caught it from a provider but I personally never heard of anyone reporting having contracted HSV1 or seeing signs of it in a provider. Pretty sure its out there to some degree. Just curious as to others thoughts.
HSV-1 is oral herpes, the cold sore virus. Somewhere between 50 to 80 percent of the population has it including lots of children and virgin young teens (virgin in the sense of any form of sex). You can get get a genital infection from HSV 1, but it isn't the same as HSV-2, which is what most people have in mind as genital herpes. People can go for decades without any cold sores or other symptoms even though the virus is present in their bodies.
HSV2 is less common at about 10-25 percent of the 14-49 year old population, and it is spread almost always through some sort of sexual contact. Many cases are asymptomatic, but like HSV1 you have it for life.
The threat of it never gave me pause during my years of mongering. Because there is a much larger monger pool here in the mainland US, I was wondering what others thought were regarding either variant. I guess its the same as myself. You just roll with the risk because the only absolute preventative method is abstinence.
