As a client, I see more companions in Carmel (very nice suburb north of Indy). A lot of nice but not crazy expensive hotels and parking is free. The hotels in downtown Indy are also very nice and it can be more exciting (with a good selection of nice restaurants), but parking can be interesting and definitely comes at a cost. I'm sure you will enjoy either location.
