I am a very very very low volume, low key, drama free provider. I also happen to be African American.
I saw a client recently who had all the best intentions in the world to make me feel comfortable. Because if his over compensation I immediately knew he had never dated an African American woman. We spent half our date with me trying to tell him women are women. Outside of some hair differences, and the obvious (for me) darker skin, we are the same. He will see me again this weekend.
I am not advocating anyone to test their preferences and see a woman of color. However here are some things that may help you if you are considering seeing a woman of color:
1. Please don't ask me about the anatomy of a black man....please
2. Do not try to make a deal with me. There is no HOOK UP.
3. No "N" word slip ups else you will be told to leave IMMEDIATELY.
4. I don't mind if you touch my hair, braids are not going to come out in your hands. However, some of my sisters do not like their hair yanked on. (hey it cost a fortune to get a good weave) Speaking of hair, we change it all the time. It can be short today and hanging down to my knees tomorrow. No one is trying to switch and bait you...look at the photos very carefully. Again, please do your homework, pay attention to our photos, look for constants...hair is a variable for EVERY WOMAN, and ask questions.
5. Don't just assume things about us based on what the media has molded many minds to think. We are very diverse and would love to be appreciated as the sexy women we all are regardless of color.
6. Please don't say you have never seen a sister bc you fear being ripped off. If you have not done your homework, read reviews, asked questions, and paid attention to details..... That is not our fault, I have never ripped anyone off....not even close. I have long term goals, I love return clients, and stealing is just wrong. It is not polite to think that my color means I am going to rip you off. Stealing is not exclusive to any race of people.
Why thank you. I do not want to start a fire storm or have people thinking all African American Women would agree with me. We are all vastly different, from different backgrounds, and are here for different reasons.
I will post on the general discussion board maybe later on today. I need to work out!!
Why dont you come on over to the provider board? You sound like a very intelligent woman, and I would love to see your posts on the ladies board as well!
I know this may sound very much like a cliche line...however I was on a long term leave...my Mom had brain cancer and was in hopsice. I am an only child....so I had to take care of her until her transition.
I am having to re-learn my way around TER. I will re-post this on both boards to ensure it is discussed.
I am having to rebuild my site...and update all my information....please be patient with me while I am also in transition.
You actually have to tell people "No "N" word slip ups ..."? That actually happens? It would be bad enough if someone said it under any circumstances, but when they have went out of their way to seek you out, and are paying you $$$/hr. Unbelievable that this would even have to be mentioned, but apparently it has happened or you wouldn't have brought it up.
As the owner of a distinctive, somewhat hillbilly-cracker accent, I've had trouble connecting with African-American providers. However, when given the opportunity, I've found those providers to be every bit as sensual, exotic, freaky, and satisfying as those of any other ethnic group. In other words, give the girls a chance and I'll wager that you'll be pleasantly surprised.... and to all the sisters out there, let me just say that all us guys with southern accents don't use the n-word or belong to the klan.
