Madison,

You are probably better off spending money and hiring an attorney rather than bartering.  I have never known someone whose friend or relative was an attorney who can say they were satisfied with the work.

I am simply providing my point of view from other people's experiences.  When the attorney can be completely objective about the client, then the expectations on both sides can be articulated and performance can be expected in full.

Bad news for both you and the attorney.  Lots of bar associations frown on such arrangements, especially if the barter is illegal.
