Splitting the cost is generally not an option. There may be a combined rate which is less expensive than offering each companion's individual fee X 2, but bargain hunting will likely not be to your benefit in practical terms.

The facts afterward (the overzealous DA who rightfully got disbarred and the humiliation & embarrassment that the university & the lacrosse team felt) could've all been avoided if the laxers had just done their homework and used TER! In the end, everyone got what they deserved!
