Judgement and statistics are NOT the same thing and I strongly believe Harlowe was not judging, but rather merely making a statement about how stupid bbfs is in this industry.
So I have to ask if those of you who don't believe that statement, based upon real statistics, have been living under a rock? And while that's unlikely, then I have to wonder if you don't yourself, have a bitter vengeance you'd like to spread?
And what you've said in response, Mr AnONymous, is simply NOT true for this industry... the part of "that's the way it's supposed to be". No, it ISN'T. That only applies to pro-creation, which is NOT what the hobby is about. It was intended "to feel good" as an incentive to pro-create... that is all. So since the act is accompanied by diseases, in addition to the making of babies NOT being the objective here, we were also intended to have the common sense to protect ourselves against both, by NOT practicing bbfs, where offspring is not the purpose. With the abundance of heads, you'd think you'd use one of them for efficient decision-making.
As children, we are invincible. But I just assume we all grew out of that fantasy about ourselves as we became adults. Apparently not though, b/c obviously some of you think you're exempt from becoming one of the wretched statistics...
And that makes YOU dangerous to society and to me. Even protected, I don't want any of you thrill-seeking non-believers near me.
If she agrees to this bbfs w/you, how many others does that make that she does the same thing with (what makes you so special... or more relevant, what makes you so oblivious to THINK you're so special?)? Further, you drive the misconceived stereo-type that plagues our profession to the point of making it crim inal.
Screw STDs (pun intended)... those can be treated... most of them anyway. But what about Herpes? Statistically 1 in 4 people have it. Do you really want to taunt odds that great? Ok, not a good example b/c of all the diff ways it's contracted, but then what about HIV? Do you NOT think that shit's real??? It scares the crap out of me! 50,000 new cases PER YEAR in the US alone, they say... for now. That's sure to rise w/the culprits of topic. Apparently you've never known anyone who lives with this HORRIBLE tragedy... it's real. What about full-blown AIDS??? You don't have anywhere near the money Magic Johnson has, so get over yourself.
I'm only spewing a couple statistics here... I'm not judging and I usually say, to each his own. But not w/this and I've been over this topic time and again in this community. And I always hope that by interjecting, that I can change the view of at least one person, but ideally, of each and every risk-taker who reads it, though those numbers will be few w/a post this old.
Idiots pose a huge danger to the evolution of society. And having common sense feels "really good" too. So does the ability to/act of protecting others. I've never understood why people can't learn by others' mistakes..
