It's been a few years since I've been to Manaus, but hopefully this is useful info.

If you have time, take a boat trip out to the Meeting of the Waters. This is where the Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes meet to form the Amazon.  The rivers don't mix for several miles since they have different temperatures, densities, and flow rates. Manaus is located right where these rivers meet, so it's a short trip by boat.

The group that I was with liked going to the same restaurants, so I didn't get to sample a wide variety of different places. The places we did frequent were Bufalo Baby and El Toro Loco.  Assuming that you're not a vegetarian, both of these places are great churrascarias.

I wasn't a hobbyist when I went there so I can't comment on that.  But I did go to a strip club known as The Church (because it formerly was one) and I was propositioned by one of the dancers.  She was very sexy and I wish that I had taken her up on her offer.  If you're looking to hobby, go there and you should be successful.

The women are also very attracted to Americans, mostly because they are looking for a ticket out of Manaus.  So be careful with the locals, a coworker of mine wasn't and he now has a Brazilian child.

Go to the Brazil board on The International Sex Guide (www.internationalsexguide.info).  You can register a handle and begin asking all the questions you can think of (after you've perused the forum for existing info of course).  I've traveled to Rio, Sao Paulo, Medellin Colombia and Panama City based solely off of info I got off that site!  Remember this term when you start getting with the Garotas: "Gustosa!"  If you don't hear it, you're not doing something right! LOL!
